Why these routes and not others

We did not pick these pairs from a map. Each one is on this list because at least one of three things is true about it, and the page says which: Google's own search suggestions show that people type the route into a search box; a published industry source names the pair; or it is a route we fly whether or not anybody searches for it. Where a published price exists we print it with its source and the year attached, and where none exists we say so instead of inventing a figure. Flight times on every page are estimates from a model fitted to the times this company already publishes, not measured block times - the page tells you that too.

From London

By departure airport: London Luton, London Biggin Hill, Farnborough.

Nine sectors out of the United Kingdom, flown from London Luton, Farnborough or Biggin Hill depending on where you are that morning. Luton recorded 26,661 business-aviation movements in 2023 - inside Europe's ten busiest business-aviation airports, which is why the choice of aircraft on the day is so wide. Since Brexit every one of these sectors is a full border crossing, and general-aviation clearance is arranged before you travel.

From Nice

Nice Cote d'Azur was Europe's second busiest business-aviation airport in 2023 with 37,425 movements, and it is the natural hub for the short Mediterranean crossings - Sardinia, the Balearics, Lombardy and the Spanish coast are all within a couple of hours.

From Geneva

The gateway to the western Alps in winter and a business city all year. Geneva logged 34,273 business-aviation movements in 2023, and the same aircraft that serve the ski season in February are the ones repositioning to the Balearics in July.

From Paris

Paris Le Bourget is the busiest business-aviation airport in Europe, with 55,751 movements in 2023 - more than any other field on this page. It is business aviation only: no scheduled traffic, a dozen FBOs, and a short run into the city.

From Milan

Linate is the closest major airport to any city centre on this list, and recorded 25,757 business-aviation movements in 2023. It is slot-coordinated and has a strict night regime, so departure timing is agreed early rather than late.

From Rome

Ciampino is Rome's business-aviation field, with 17,129 movements in 2023. It sits inside the ring road, well south-east of Fiumicino, and it works to a night curfew and a daily movement cap - which is precisely why the slot is booked before anything else.

From Zurich

Zurich logged 25,866 business-aviation movements in 2023. Unlike Le Bourget or Farnborough it is a scheduled hub that business aviation shares, with a night curfew at both ends of the day, so an early departure is a planning question as much as an aircraft question.

From Amsterdam

Schiphol recorded 14,508 business-aviation movements in 2023 - a large number at one of Europe's most slot-constrained airports. Business jets queue with everybody else, and Rotterdam and Lelystad are the usual relief fields when Schiphol has nothing to give.

From Madrid

Madrid Barajas handled 14,754 business-aviation movements in 2023 and has its own executive terminal. On the Spanish domestic pairs the honest competitor is the AVE high-speed train, and these pages say where the aircraft actually wins.

From Palma de Mallorca

Palma recorded 17,504 business-aviation movements in 2023. For about ten weeks a year it is one of the busiest holiday airports in Europe, and on the Balearic hops the binding constraint is the slot and the overnight parking rather than the aeroplane.
