Out of the Gulf and onto the island in one leg, in a cabin built to stay airborne that long - no night in a European hub, no second boarding card. The flying is the straightforward half of this trip. The half worth planning is the ground at Palma, where in high summer a business jet joins a queue built for package holidays.
REQUEST A QUOTEPalma recorded 17,504 business-aviation movements in 2023, inside the EBAA top fifty. The tables behind that count cover Europe only, so no comparable figure exists for the Dubai end and this page does not manufacture one. Two things follow from the distance and one from the destination. At 5,113 km nothing midsize crosses without stopping, which is why the shortlist below runs to three aeroplanes rather than a dozen. And Palma is not a business-aviation field: it is one of the largest holiday airports in Europe, so the arrival window is a subject in its own right rather than a formality.
One field at each end and no shortlist to draw up - but the two ends are unalike in every other respect. Dubai International is a very large scheduled airport with business aviation set off to one side, which sounds like a compromise and is not: it means full customs and immigration at any hour of the night. Palma is also large and also handles private traffic beside its scheduled terminals, except that the scheduled traffic there is holiday charter, and in July and August there is a very great deal of it.
| Airport | Codes | Role | What that means for you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dubai International | DXB / OMDB | Departure | The field this route is recorded against in our own data, and the point every distance and time on this page is measured from. Business aviation sits away from the scheduled concourses with customs and immigration available at any hour, so a departure before dawn is a scheduling question rather than an operational one. Read the slot level and the parking rule below before you assume where you will board: between them they decide which of the two Dubai fields your aircraft is standing on. |
| Palma de Mallorca | PMI / LEPA | Arrival | 17,504 business-aviation movements in 2023, inside the EBAA top fifty, and one of the largest holiday airports in Europe. In August a business jet takes its turn alongside the package traffic, which is why the arrival hour is worth agreeing with us in advance rather than assuming it. If the aeroplane is to stay on the island with you, raise it at the enquiry: in the peak weeks an overnight stand is harder to secure than the flight. |

Dubai has two airports open to business jets, and on a departure the choice is often made for you before you book. This page quotes Dubai International. The alternative is Al Maktoum International (DWC / OMDW), twenty nautical miles south-west of the city: open around the clock, with customs and immigration of its own, and a 4,500 m runway that takes aircraft far larger than the three types listed further down.
Two rules decide it and neither of them is our preference. The first is the slot. Dubai International is slot-coordinated at level 3, meaning demand for the schedule exceeds what the airport can absorb and every movement has to hold an allocated slot; Al Maktoum sits at level 2, where the slot is agreed rather than rationed. The second rule matters more on an outbound, and it is the parking. Under Dubai International's own conditions of use a business jet left on the ground there beyond twenty-four hours has to be relocated to Al Maktoum. So if the aeroplane has been waiting in Dubai for you rather than flying in to collect you, expect to board it at Al Maktoum - that is the rule working, not a downgrade.
In the air it changes nothing: under ninety seconds separate the two fields at cruise, well inside the error of any estimated flight time. On the road it changes a good deal, and not in the direction most people guess. Al Maktoum is the shorter run from Dubai Marina and Palm Jumeirah and the longer one from Downtown and the financial district; Dubai International is the other way about. Tell us the address you are leaving from and the hour you want to be airborne, and we will name the field that costs you least time on the ground.

At 5,113 km the range requirement settles the shortlist before comfort or seat count get a say. No midsize cabin crosses this nonstop, and a technical stop turns a shade under seven hours into a ten-hour day with a fuel bill at an airport nobody wanted to see. All three types below fly it in a single leg. What separates them on this particular route is the hold, because Mallorca is a place people arrive at with a fortnight's luggage rather than an overnight bag.
Our fleet page lists 13 to 19 passengers. The obvious answer when the party is large, or when the same aeroplane is to bring everybody home at the end of the month. Over 5,113 km it is well short of its limits, so payload and fuel stop competing with each other and nobody has to argue about the golf clubs.
See the Gulfstream G550 ›Listed at 13 to 14 passengers on our fleet page, in a cabin quieter than that number suggests. The type people ask for when the seven hours out are meant to be worked or slept through rather than endured. Cabin communications differ from aeroplane to aeroplane, so ask about the individual aircraft rather than the type.
See the Global 5000 ›Listed at 13 to 16 passengers. Three engines instead of two, which some passengers weigh on a crossing of desert and open sea and others never consider at all. It also gets into shorter runways than the other two - of no consequence at Palma, and of some if the trip carries on somewhere smaller afterwards.
See the Falcon 7X ›The three types each have a page of their own on this site, and the passenger counts above are lifted from those pages rather than from a manufacturer's brochure.

No source we would be willing to reprint publishes a price for Dubai to Palma de Mallorca, so treat the number above as a floor and not as a quotation. What actually builds the total on a sector of this length into a seasonal destination is set out below.
Nearly seven hours in the air means the flying is the bill. Landing and handling fees, which decide a short hop between European cities, are close to rounding here; the aircraft's hourly cost, the crew duty day and the positioning legs at either end take over. Two things then move the total more than everything else put together. The first is where a suitable long-range aeroplane is standing when you ask, and this pairing has an awkward property: its two ends are busy in opposite halves of the year. The Gulf season runs from November to March, Mallorca's from June to September. Whichever half you fly in, one end of the route is working hard and the other is quiet, and the answer to "where is the aircraft" moves with it. The second is whether the aeroplane stays with you. On a week on the island it usually does not - it drops the party and leaves, and the flight home is a second purchase rather than the back half of the first. If you do want it to wait, say so at the enquiry: in the peak weeks the overnight stand at Palma is the scarce item, not the aircraft.
Published market rates for long-range jets in Europe run from about 8,500 EUR an hour at the bottom of the published range to 20,100 EUR an hour at the top; dollar-quoted sources put the same class at 12,000 to 17,000 USD an hour. Those are published market rates collected from broker price pages in August 2026, not our rates, and they are shown only so that you have something to measure a quotation against.
Mallorca has one long season with a very sharp peak inside it, and the Gulf has a season of its own that falls in the other half of the year. On this pairing the two do not overlap, so the question is never simply how busy the island is - it is which end of the route is competing for your aeroplane in the month you have chosen.
| Period | What happens | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| May | The island is open, the weather has turned and the airport is still calm, while the Gulf season is ending and long-range aircraft are starting to move north and west. Owners come out to open houses for the summer. | The easiest month of the season to book, and easy at both ends at once. A week or two of notice is usually plenty. |
| June to September | The Mediterranean season proper. Palma is handling holiday traffic at volume and on a Saturday morning a business jet is a small aeroplane in a very large queue. At the Dubai end the flow reverses in these months and runs towards Europe rather than away from it, which for once points the spare capacity your way. | Two to three weeks out for a weekend arrival. Ask us to look at a weekday instead - the saving in both time and money is real. |
| August | The tightest weeks of the year at the island end. What runs out is slots, handling windows and overnight stands, not aircraft, and a party that reaches the aeroplane late can lose a slot rather than merely an hour. | Six to eight weeks out. If the aircraft does not need to stay on the island, tell us early: it removes the hardest part of the booking. |
| October to April | The island empties and the European fleet repositions north and inland for the winter. Inside this window sits the Gulf season proper, November to March, when a long-range cabin is worth most at the end you are leaving from rather than the end you are going to. Mallorca itself is quiet - owners come out for long weekends and to see to the house. | The best months of the year to ask about an empty leg, and the best months to get a long-range cabin at short notice. Give us a flexible week and we will watch the repositioning traffic. |
Seasonality for this pairing is taken from our own route research file for diamond.aero, which classifies each published route by its demand window, together with the seasonal windows already published on our Palma de Mallorca and Dubai route pages. Movement counts are EBAA 2023 as published by Private Jet Card Comparisons, 4 June 2024.
Palma is the hub of the Balearics, and a fair number of the people we bring in from the Gulf are not stopping there. Ibiza is minutes away in the air and the Spanish mainland is a short sector. Whether the aeroplane that carried you 5,113 km is the sensible one for a hop of minutes is a question worth putting to us rather than assuming either way.
One of the shortest sectors we publish, and the usual request when half the party is on the other island or joining a boat there. Ibiza is much tighter than Palma for parking in season, so it wants planning with us rather than deciding on the day.
Palma to Ibiza ›Barcelona is a short leg off the island and the natural continuation when the holiday turns into business, or when somebody wants a night in the city before flying home.
Palma to Barcelona ›A routine sector and one we run. Useful when the family stays on the island and one passenger has to be on the mainland the next morning.
Palma to Madrid ›Tell us your dates and how many of you there are. Your dedicated flight advisor will come back with aircraft options and a firm price.
