London to St Moritz is a 951 km sector of about 1 h 37 in the air, London Luton to Engadin Samedan — the airfield in the valley below the resort. Indicative price from €4 600 for the whole aircraft, one way. It is a short flight into an unusual airport, so send the dates early; a written quotation follows within 30 minutes and the operations desk answers at any hour on +357 95 119759.
Ninety minutes from the Home Counties to the Upper Engadin. The shortest sector on this page group and, because of where it ends, the one that needs the most thought per kilometre.
REQUEST A QUOTEEverything about the flying is easy and everything about the arrival is particular. Nine hundred and fifty kilometres is nothing to a light jet. But Engadin Samedan sits in a high Alpine valley at over 1,700 metres above sea level — far higher than any other airfield on this website — and mountain airfields are not ordinary airfields. Thin air, terrain on both sides and mountain weather mean that which aircraft can use it, on which day and with what load, is a real question settled by the operator and the crew rather than a box on a booking form.
At the London end there is nothing to decide beyond which field is nearest your morning. At the Alpine end there are two genuinely different answers, different in kind rather than degree: one puts you minutes from the resort and depends on the aircraft, the crew and the weather; the other always works and costs you a long drive.
| Airport | Codes | Codes | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|---|
| London Luton | LTN / EGGW | departure, default | Where most of this traffic leaves from and the field with the widest choice of light and midsize aircraft on any day — 26,661 business-aviation movements in 2023. Every figure on this page is measured from Luton. Farnborough and Biggin Hill are a couple of minutes from it in the air, so the choice is about the road at the start of your day. |
| Engadin Samedan | SMV / LSZS | arrival, the one you want | The airfield of the Upper Engadin, in the valley below St Moritz and a short drive from the resort — which on a ninety-minute flight is the difference between arriving and travelling. It is also a high mountain airfield at over 1,700 metres, with terrain close on both sides and mountain weather. Which aircraft may use it, with which crew and what payload, is confirmed with the operator for your dates — a question we ask before proposing an aeroplane, not after. |
| Zurich | ZRH / LSZH | arrival, all-weather | The dependable alternative, and the one a great many parties end up using. A major international airport with deep business-aviation handling, open when valley fields are not, at the price of a long road transfer to the Engadin. The sensible choice when the party is large, the luggage is real or the forecast is doubtful — and a route we publish in its own right. |
| Other Alpine fields | various | arrival, by arrangement | Other Swiss and north Italian fields can serve the Engadin depending on where you are staying and how the roads look. They are worth discussing rather than listing: the right one follows the road plan, not the distance in the air. |
Airport coordinates and codes: OurAirports open dataset, retrieved 23 August 2026. Luton movement count: EBAA 2023 via Private Jet Card Comparisons, 4 June 2024. Operating limitations at a mountain airfield are set by the operator, the crew and the competent authorities rather than by this page; we confirm them for your aircraft and your dates rather than publish them here.
951 km asks nothing of these aircraft, so range plays no part here. Two other things do. The first is the arrival field: at a high Alpine airfield the air is thin, and thin air costs performance. The second is that this is a ski route, and skis and boots take space no cabin drawing shows.
Six to eight passengers and the commonest light jet on this kind of sector, quick to arrange at short notice and efficient on a flight of an hour and a half. For a small party it is usually the first type we look at.
See the Embraer Phenom 300 ›Seven to eight passengers in a stand-up cabin with the largest hold of the three — which on a week’s skiing, with hard cases and boot bags, is the specification that actually decides the trip.
See the Cessna Citation XLS+ ›Six to eight passengers, full galley and separate lavatory, with range far beyond this sector. It earns its place when the Engadin is one stop of a European week rather than the whole journey.
See the Hawker 800XP ›All three have their own pages in our fleet. On this route the order of questions matters: we establish what the arrival field will accept on your dates first and choose the cabin second. An aircraft that cannot use the valley is not a cheaper option, it is a different holiday. Luggage limits by aircraft type.

No published whole-aircraft route price for London to St Moritz has reached us from a source we would be willing to reprint, so the figure above is calculated rather than quoted: the bottom of the published entry-level European light-to-midsize hourly rate applied to the flight time on this page, rounded down. It is a floor derived from market rates, not our tariff and not a quotation.
Of all the routes in this group, this is the one where the floor is least likely to be what you pay, and it is worth saying why. The number is built from ninety-seven minutes of flying, and that is the cheapest part of an Alpine trip in February. Positioning is the expensive part: in the middle of the ski season few light jets sit idle within reach of Luton on a Saturday morning, and the aeroplane that comes to you has usually come from somewhere.
The other thing that moves the number is the changeover day. Alpine resorts run Saturday to Saturday and the entire market wants the same two movements. A Thursday or a Sunday, everything else identical, is frequently a materially different quotation — on a route this short the day matters more than the aeroplane. For a week, also ask what it costs to send the aircraft away and bring it back rather than keep it standing in the valley: on a short sector that comparison can go either way.

Two seasons and a long pause between them. Winter is what this route exists for, and inside it the market runs on changeover Saturdays. Summer in the Engadin is a real season in its own right and a far easier one to arrange. Spring and late autumn are quiet at the valley end in a way that has as much to do with the mountains as with demand.
| Period | What happens | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| December to March | The Alpine season and the busiest weeks of the year here. Demand concentrates on Saturday movements in both directions, and harder still around the New Year and half-term. Valley weather is at its most variable, which is when a named alternate stops being paperwork. | Four to six weeks for a peak Saturday, longer over the New Year. Settle the arrival field and the alternate with the aircraft, not afterwards. |
| June to September | The second season, and an underrated one. The Engadin has a full summer calendar, the weather is far more predictable than in winter, and the same trip is easier to arrange and generally cheaper. | One to two weeks. This is the window in which a short-notice request on this route is most likely to get a straightforward yes. |
| Changeover Saturdays in winter | Within the season the pattern is weekly rather than monthly. The Saturday out and the Saturday back are the two hardest movements to place, and they are what the whole Alpine market is competing for. | Ask what a Thursday or a Sunday does to the quotation before you fix the Saturday. On a ninety-minute sector the day matters more than the aeroplane. |
| April, May, October and November | The quiet months at the valley end. Mountain resorts and the services around them keep a reduced rhythm between seasons. | Ask us what is actually open for your dates rather than assuming. We check rather than guess, and if the valley is not the answer we say so. |

The Alps are a short flight wide, and a party that flies to one valley often flies to another later in the same season. Two of those routes we already publish.
London to Courchevel is the French Alpine route we publish, and it raises the same question this one does about which field can actually take you.
London to Courchevel ›London to Sion serves Verbier, Crans-Montana and the Valais resorts — another Alpine arrival where the airport decision comes before the aircraft one.
London to Sion ›If the forecast in the valley is doubtful or the party is large, Zurich is the alternative arrival, and it is a route we publish in its own right.
London to Zurich ›Tell us your dates and how many of you there are. Your dedicated flight advisor will come back with aircraft options and a firm price.
