London to Chambery by private jet takes about 1 h 28 over 830 km, out of Luton, Farnborough or Biggin Hill into Chambery Savoie, normally on a light to midsize jet. Indicative price from €4 200 for the whole aircraft, one way. Send the dates and a written quotation follows within 30 minutes; the operations desk answers at any hour on +357 95 119759.
The shortest way to put a jet on the ground near the Trois Vallees. An hour and a half from London into the Savoie valley, and a short drive rather than a long one at the end of it. The flight is the easy part; the day of the week is not.
REQUEST A QUOTEChambery earns its place on this website for one reason: of every airport that will take a business jet, it is the closest to Courchevel, Meribel and Val Thorens. At 830 km from London Luton it is marginally nearer than Courchevel Altiport itself at 884 km, and appreciably further than Geneva at 784 km — but distance is not what you are buying here. What you are buying is the length of the road at the far end, and on that measure Chambery wins comfortably. The price of that advantage is that it is a valley airport: its runway limits the aircraft that use it, its weather can be awkward in a way that a field on the plain is not, and on a Saturday in the season it is one of the busiest small airports in Europe.
Three fields will take you off the ground in London and three will put you down in the Alps. The London choice is about your morning; the Alpine choice is about the road at the far end and about what the weather is doing.
The Alpine numbers are close enough to be misleading if read on their own. Chambery is 830 km from Luton, Grenoble 836 km, Geneva 784 km and Courchevel Altiport 884 km — a spread of a hundred kilometres, which is minutes in the air. The differences that matter are entirely on the ground: how long the drive is afterwards, how the field behaves in bad weather, and whether it has room on the busiest morning of the week.
| Airport | Codes | Great-circle from Luton | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chambery Savoie | CMF / LFLB | 830 km | The usual arrival for Courchevel, Meribel and Val Thorens, and the closest jet-capable field to the Trois Vallees. It is a valley airport: the runway sets a practical limit on aircraft size, and the surrounding terrain means its weather deserves more respect than a field on the plain. Saturdays in the season are the hardest days of its year. |
| Grenoble Alpes Isere | GNB / LFLS | 836 km | Where you end up instead on a Saturday changeover when Chambery has filled, or on any day when its weather turns. It sits on the plain and stays open when the valley fields do not. The road up is longer, and we file it as the alternate as a matter of routine rather than only when the forecast is doubtful. |
| Geneva | GVA / LSGG | 784 km | The shortest sector of the four and the longest drive. A full-service business-aviation airport with none of the valley’s constraints, and the right answer for a large party travelling in one aircraft, or when certainty matters more than the last hour of road. |
| Courchevel Altiport | CVF / LFLJ | 884 km | Not, in the ordinary case, a jet destination. Short runway with a pronounced upward slope, no instrument approach, no abandoning an approach once committed, daylight and good visibility required, and a crew qualification specific to the field. It is reached by helicopter or by road from the valley, and that is how the journey is planned rather than a compromise imposed on it. |
Airport coordinates, codes and all great-circle distances: OurAirports open dataset, retrieved 23 August 2026. Chambery’s aircraft limits and seasonal congestion are described qualitatively; we quote no figures because we have not sourced published ones.
At 830 km nothing here is a range question, and at the Chambery end it is not really a comfort question either — an hour and a half is short enough that cabin height is a preference rather than a need. What it is, on this route above all others, is a luggage question.
Ski equipment is the reason. Skis, boards, boots and a week of winter clothing take up several times the volume that the same party would generate in summer, and hold capacity is what runs out first on an Alpine booking — usually well before the seats do. Six people with full equipment need a bigger aeroplane than six people with suit carriers, and the type we propose reflects that. Tell us what is coming with you when you send the dates, not at the aircraft steps.
Six to eight passengers with 2.27 cubic metres of hold and 3,650 km of range. The commonest light jet on Alpine work in winter and the easiest of the three to place at short notice, which in February is worth more than any specification.
See the Embraer Phenom 300 ›Seven to eight passengers in a stand-up cabin with the largest hold of the three at 2.55 cubic metres. On a ski route that hold is the reason to choose it, and it is a decisive reason more often than people expect.
See the Cessna Citation XLS+ ›Six to eight passengers with a full galley and a separate lavatory. Far more range than this sector needs, which makes it the type to name when Chambery is the middle of a multi-stop week rather than the end of a journey.
See the Hawker 800XP ›All three types are on our own fleet pages. For a large party in a single aircraft, a Geneva arrival opens up cabins that the valley field does not. Luggage allowances are on our luggage page.

We have found no published route price for London to Chambery that we would be willing to reprint, so the figure above is a floor: the lowest published light-to-midsize starting rate we can source, multiplied by the flight time on this page, rounded down. It is a sanity check for any quotation you receive, ours included.
On this route the gap between that floor and a real winter quotation is wider than on most, and the reason is worth understanding rather than resenting. In the high season every suitable aircraft in the western Alps is already committed to somebody, so the aeroplane that flies you is one that has been brought in for the purpose, and the positioning is a real cost rather than an accounting device. The same flight in late March, or on a Wednesday instead of a Saturday, is a different market entirely. If your dates can move, that is worth more than any negotiation over aircraft type; and if you know the return date, ask for both legs together so the aircraft repositions once instead of twice.

The Alpine year is a switch rather than a curve. From December to March this is one of the busiest short corridors in Europe and a single day of the week dominates everything; from late spring the traffic falls away and the route becomes ordinary.
| Period | What happens | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Saturdays, December to March | The changeover day. Every arrival and departure in the Tarentaise is compressed into the same few hours, and what runs out is ground handling and parking rather than aircraft. | Four to six weeks if the date is fixed. If it is not, move it: a Sunday or a Wednesday is the same journey at a lower price and with far less standing about. |
| Christmas, New Year and the February school holidays | The peak inside the peak, with capacity in the valley committed a long way ahead and no slack anywhere in the system. | Six to eight weeks, and take an early departure. Confirm the arrival field before you commit to an aircraft type. |
| The rest of the winter season | Busy but workable. Weather decides more than the calendar does, and a planned alternate stops that being a problem. | One to two weeks. Tell us the hour you want to be on the snow and we will build the day backwards from it, transfer included. |
| April to November | The quiet two-thirds of the year. Lac du Bourget, Annecy and the summer mountains bring a modest June-to-September peak, and the rest is genuinely empty. | A week is plenty and short notice is easy. Quotations in this period sit much closer to the calculated floor on this page. |

The flight ends in the valley. The journey does not. Three ways it finishes, and what each asks of you.
Chambery is the shortest drive to Courchevel, Meribel and Val Thorens of any jet-capable field. It does not care about cloud base and it does not weigh your ski bags. For most parties this is simply the plan.

Helicopter charter ›If the party is large or the certainty matters more than the road, Geneva is the better arrival — and from there Courchevel is only 102 km, which is a different problem with a different answer.
