Private Jet Charter Rome to Ibiza

Rome to Ibiza by private jet takes about 1 h 41 over 1,004 km, out of Ciampino and into Ibiza, normally on a light to midsize jet. Indicative price from €4 800 for the whole aircraft, one way. Send the dates and a written quotation follows within 30 minutes; the operations desk answers at any hour on +357 95 119759.

West across the Tyrrhenian and the Balearic Sea, from Rome's business-aviation airport to an island with one runway. The flying is easy. The arrival, from July onwards, is the part that needs planning. Whole aircraft, single seats and empty legs.

The route at a glance

Two Mediterranean airports of similar size joined by a sector that exists almost entirely for pleasure. Rome Ciampino recorded 17,129 business-aviation movements in 2023 and Ibiza 14,383, so neither end is short of traffic - but they are busy for different reasons and at different times. Rome works all year and has a distinct spring and autumn rhythm; Ibiza compresses the overwhelming majority of its year into four months. Between June and September this is a route where the aeroplane is the easy part and the island is the hard part, because Ibiza has a single runway shared with very heavy scheduled traffic, and ramp parking is finite.

Distance is the great-circle figure between airport coordinates from the OurAirports open dataset. The flight time is an estimate, not a measured block time: it comes from a simple model fitted to the flight times Diamond Executive Aero Services already publishes on this website, and it moves with airway routing, wind, slots and aircraft type. Your quotation carries the real schedule.

Which airports we use

One natural departure, one unavoidable arrival, and a couple of alternatives that are worth knowing about for specific situations rather than as general options. Read the Ibiza row with your dates in front of you - in July and August it is the row that determines your day.

AirportCodesGreat-circle to IbizaSuits you if
Rome CiampinoCIA / LIRA1,004 kmThe default and, for business aviation, effectively the only sensible Rome departure. About fifteen kilometres south-east of the centre, which is a short drive by the standards of a capital city. Noise and operating restrictions apply at night, so the departure window is something we confirm rather than assume - tell us the hour you want and we will tell you whether it exists.
Rome FiumicinoFCO / LIRFslightly furtherRome's intercontinental airport, west of the city on the coast. It becomes the answer when Ciampino cannot take the movement at the hour you need, or when the aircraft is a larger cabin than Ciampino suits. The drive from the centre is longer and the handling is a busier environment.
Rome UrbeLIRUnot used for this sectorA small general-aviation field close to the centre, used by light aircraft and helicopters rather than by business jets. Listed so that you know why we have not proposed it.
IbizaIBZ / LEIBarrivalOne runway, shared through the summer with very heavy scheduled traffic, about seven kilometres from Ibiza Town. Business aviation is handled separately; the runway slot and the ramp parking are not, and from July those two are the binding constraint rather than the supply of aircraft. If the aeroplane cannot park it drops you and leaves, which is a price question as much as an operational one. Palma de Mallorca is the fallback when Ibiza is genuinely full.

Aircraft for Rome to Ibiza

At 1,004 km the water crossing asks nothing of any of these types, so range never decides it. What decides it is the luggage and the direction of travel. Going out at the start of a stay, the hold is the number that matters; coming home at the end of one, it matters slightly less and the cabin matters more.

Embraer Phenom 300

Six to eight passengers, a 2.27 cubic metre hold and 3,650 km of range - well over three times what this crossing needs. It is also the type most likely to be free at short notice in July, which on a Mediterranean summer sector is the argument that usually decides it.

See the Embraer Phenom 300 ›

Cessna Citation XLS+

Seven to eight passengers, a stand-up cabin and 2.55 cubic metres of hold, the largest of the three. The right choice when the party is going out for a fortnight or joining a boat, because villa luggage fills a small hold long before it fills the seats.

Hawker 800XP

Six to eight passengers, a full galley and a separate lavatory. Worth the step up for a group that intends to eat and drink across the Mediterranean rather than sit quietly through it, and for parties who want the cabin to itself on the way home.

All three types are on our own fleet pages. Larger cabins fly to Ibiza regularly - our own published empty-leg examples for the island include a Legacy 650 and a Citation Bravo.

What it costs

From €4 800 one way. Indicative starting price for this route, rounded down. The date, the aircraft actually available and airport fees move it — tell us your dates and we confirm within 30 minutes.

No published price for the Rome to Ibiza city pair has reached us from a source we would be willing to reprint, so the figure above is a floor rather than a quotation and the table carries hourly references for the cabin class instead. We would rather print nothing than invent a number for a table.

On this sector the price is mostly a question about the aircraft's day rather than about your flight. In August there is no ramp space to spare at Ibiza, so an aeroplane that carries you west will turn round with other passengers or reposition empty, and one of you pays for that - which is why the same crossing can be quoted two quite different ways inside a single week. Then comes the day: Friday and Sunday movements are the ones everybody wants. Then the boat, because if the arrival has to put you at a berth in time for a departure, the slot has to be built around that hour.

The hourly figures are third-party published references for the cabin class, printed so that you can sanity-check any quotation you receive, ours included. The Legacy 650 line is our own published empty-leg example on a different city pair and is not the price of a booked charter on your dates. In the peak weeks the flying is rarely what moves an ordinary quotation: the arrival slot, the handling window and whether the aircraft can stand on the island are what move it. Only a written quotation from Diamond Executive Aero Services, against your dates, is a price. Call +357 95 119759, 24/7.

When to fly, and when to book early

Ibiza compresses almost its entire year into four months, and Rome does not. The result is a sector that barely exists for seven months and is under real pressure for two, with two very pleasant shoulders in between that most people overlook.

PeriodWhat happensWhat to do
May and OctoberThe shoulders. The island is open, the airport is not full, and aircraft are being positioned into or out of the Mediterranean anyway, which is exactly when repositioning flights appear.A week ahead is enough, and these are the weeks when an empty leg going your way is most likely to exist. Ask about one while you book.
June and SeptemberFull season without peak congestion, and the two months EUROCONTROL identifies as the genuine annual peaks of European business flying. Two weeks for a weekend crossing. Ask us to request the Ibiza slot as soon as the arrival day is fixed rather than after the aircraft is chosen.
July and AugustMaximum pressure on the island. It is ramp parking and slots that run out rather than aircraft, and an aeroplane that brings you in will normally leave again straight away.Four weeks or more. Ask what the aircraft does after it has dropped you - on this sector that answer is part of the price, not a detail.
November to AprilThe island winds down and the sector effectively stops. Rome keeps working all year, but very little of its traffic goes to the Balearics in winter. If you do need it, short notice is entirely realistic and the aeroplane will not be the difficulty.

Onward from Ibiza

Landing on the island is rarely the end of the plan, and the hour after the aircraft stops is worth settling before you leave Rome.

Formentera and the marinas

Most parties go from the ramp to a berth. Give us the marina and the hour you are expected on board and the arrival gets built around that rather than the other way round.

The way back to Italy

After a summer weekend this is among the sectors most likely to come up as a repositioning flight in the other direction. Worth asking about while you book the outbound.

Or start from Milan instead

If part of the party is coming from the north rather than from Rome, Milan to Ibiza is published as well - and our own empty-leg examples include that sector.

Questions we get about this route

How long is the flight from Rome to Ibiza by private jet?
About 1 hour 40 minutes. The great-circle distance from Rome Ciampino to Ibiza is 1,004 km, or 542 nautical miles, and our published-times model gives 1 h 41. That is an estimate rather than a measured block time and it is direction-neutral, so it takes no view on the upper winds - flying west they are more often on the nose than behind, which means the crossing out can run a few minutes longer than the crossing home. Allow roughly fifteen minutes on the ground at each end.
What does the single runway at Ibiza mean for us?
It means the arrival is planned around a slot rather than around your preferred hour. Ibiza has one runway shared through the summer with very heavy scheduled traffic; business aviation is handled separately but the runway slot and the ramp parking are not. From July that is the binding constraint on this route, not the supply of aircraft. Give us the day and we will tell you what the arrival window realistically looks like before you build a plan on top of it.
Will the aircraft wait for us on the island?
In July and August, usually not. There is no ramp space to spare at Ibiza in the peak weeks, so an aeroplane that flies you across will either turn round with other passengers or reposition out empty. In May, June, September and October waiting is much easier to arrange and is often the cheaper shape of the booking. Ask at the enquiry stage, because what the aircraft does between your legs is a large part of what you are quoted.
Why Ciampino rather than Fiumicino?
Because Ciampino is where Rome's business aviation actually operates. It is about fifteen kilometres south-east of the centre, which is a short drive, and the handling is built around private traffic rather than around scheduled passengers. Fiumicino is further out on the coast and is a busier, more complicated environment for a small aircraft. Ciampino does carry operating and noise restrictions at night, so we confirm the departure window rather than assume it - if the hour you want does not exist there, Fiumicino is the answer and we will say so.
We are joining a boat. Can the flight be planned around the berth?
Yes, and it should be. Most parties on this sector go straight from the ramp to a marina, so tell us the marina and the hour you are expected on board at the enquiry stage and the arrival is built backwards from that. Left until later it becomes much harder, because in high summer the slot at Ibiza has to be requested around the time you need rather than adjusted afterwards. The same applies if you are continuing to Formentera by water.
How much does a private jet from Rome to Ibiza cost?
From EUR 4 800 one way for the whole aircraft as our own floor, on a light to midsize cabin. We have not found a published price for this exact city pair from a source we would reprint, so the page gives hourly references instead: brokers publish 4,600 to 9,700 EUR per hour for light to midsize cabins in Europe, with entry-level rates quoted from 2,900 to 3,500 EUR per hour (retrieved 2026). Our own published empty-leg example for the island is a Legacy 650 on Milan to Ibiza at 12,000 EUR - an empty leg, not a charter price. Your own number depends on the week, the day and what the aircraft does next.
What luggage can we take to the island?
The hold is the constraint, not the seats. The Phenom 300 offers 2.27 cubic metres and the Citation XLS+ 2.55 cubic metres, and villa bags, boat bags and a fortnight's worth of everything fill a small hold long before the seats run out. Tell us what is travelling with you before you tell us which type you want, and we will name an aeroplane that takes it rather than discovering the problem at the aircraft steps.
Is Palma de Mallorca ever the better arrival?
Occasionally, in the worst weeks of August, and only when Ibiza genuinely cannot take the movement at any hour that works for you. Palma has far more capacity, but it leaves you with a boat crossing or a second short flight to finish the journey. We will propose it only when it solves a real problem, and we will say what it costs you in ground time first.
Can I book a last-minute private jet from Rome to Ibiza?
In May, June, September and October, frequently yes - both ends carry plenty of traffic and repositioning flights across the western Mediterranean are common. In July and August it is much harder, and the obstacle is the island rather than the aeroplane: slots and parking are requested in advance and do not appear on demand. Call the operations desk on +357 95 119759 at any hour and we will tell you immediately whether your timing is achievable rather than promise and check later. Ask about empty legs on the same call and about single seats on flights we open for sharing.
