London to Faro by private jet takes about 2 h 38 over 1,757 km, non-stop from whichever of Luton, Farnborough and Biggin Hill suits the party into the Algarve's only airport. Normally a midsize cabin, and normally chosen by the hold rather than by the seats: this is a route people fly with golf bags, pushchairs and a fortnight's luggage. Indicative price from €11 800 for the whole aircraft one way — the same figure we publish for this pairing flown northbound. Send the dates and a written quotation follows within 30 minutes; the operations desk answers at any hour on +357 95 119759.
Two and a half hours south-west from a London business-aviation field to the coast, with no clock to reset at the other end. Whole aircraft, single seats and empty legs.
REQUEST A QUOTEMost of what is written about this corridor is written from the Algarve's point of view. Seen from London it looks different in two useful ways. First, the departure is a genuine choice: three business-aviation fields, and on a family departure the right one is usually the one the whole party can reach without an early-morning crawl round the M25. Second, mainland Portugal keeps the same clock as the United Kingdom, so this is a rare southbound holiday flight that costs you nothing in adjustment — you leave after breakfast and you are on the coast for lunch at the same hour your watch already says.
Three fields to leave from and one to land at, which puts the whole airport decision at the London end. It is worth taking seriously on a departure with children or a large party: the three fields are minutes apart in the air and can be an hour apart on the road, and that hour is spent before anyone has had a coffee.
| Field | Codes | Role on this route | What decides it |
|---|---|---|---|
| London Luton | LTN / EGGW | The usual departure | About fifty kilometres north of central London, open at every hour and with the deepest choice of aircraft on any given day. The natural field if the party is coming from the north or west, and the easiest one on which to arrange a departure at short notice or at an awkward hour. |
| Farnborough | FAB / EGLF | Shortest ground time | South-west of London, business aviation only and with no scheduled traffic at all, so the time between car and cabin is the shortest of the three — which is the part that matters most with a family. Operating hours are restricted and movements capped, so an early Saturday departure is confirmed rather than assumed. The natural field for Surrey, Hampshire and the Thames Valley. |
| London Biggin Hill | BQH / EGKB | South and east London | The shortest road journey from the City, Kent and south London, and helicopter-connected to the centre. Operating hours are limited here too, which rarely obstructs a mid-morning holiday departure. |
| Faro | FAO / LPFR | Arrival | One airport for the entire Algarve, and a convenient one: the coast is long but narrow, so nowhere from Sagres to the Spanish border is a serious drive. Business traffic is handled away from the scheduled terminal, which is what keeps the arrival short in the weeks when the terminal itself is not. |
Airport coordinates and codes: OurAirports open dataset, retrieved 23 August 2026. London Luton movement count: EBAA 2023 via Private Jet Card Comparisons, 4 June 2024. Sector lengths from Farnborough and Biggin Hill are described as comparable rather than measured, because we have not computed them from the same dataset and the difference is not what decides the choice. Operating-hour and movement restrictions at Farnborough and Biggin Hill are published aerodrome conditions and change from time to time.
A light jet has the range for 1,757 km without difficulty, and we still put most parties on a midsize cabin. Southbound the reason is usually not the clock but the boot: people leaving London for the Algarve are going for a week or a fortnight rather than for a meeting, and the luggage that implies fills a small hold long before the passengers fill the seats. Tell us what is travelling and we will size the aeroplane to it.
Seven to eight passengers, a stand-up cabin and 2.55 cubic metres of hold — the largest of the three. The type we propose first on a holiday departure, because golf bags are bulky rather than heavy and it is the hold that runs out first.
See the Cessna Citation XLS+ ›Six to eight passengers, full galley and a separate lavatory, with 5,463 km of range that makes this sector a short hop. Worth naming when the party is travelling with equipment as well as suitcases, or when Faro is one stop of a longer itinerary.
See the Hawker 800XP ›A newer midsize cabin, flat floor and the quietest interior of the three. The one to ask for when there are young children on board and two and a half hours of quiet is worth paying for.
See the Cessna Citation Latitude ›All three types are on our own fleet pages. Light jets fly this sector perfectly well and cost less: say so if the priority is the number rather than the cabin and we will quote both. Count the golf bags and the pushchairs when you count the passengers — on this direction the hold is usually the binding constraint.
From €11 800 one way, whole aircraft. This is the same benchmark we publish for the pairing flown from Faro, and deliberately so: the two airports, the aeroplane and the 2 h 38 are identical whichever way round you fly them, and a different starting figure for each direction would mean one of the two was wrong.
It is our own floor rather than a quotation. No published price for this city pair has reached us from a source we would be willing to reprint, so the table below carries hourly references for the cabin class, and the figure above is built from the entry-level rate in it and the flight time at the top of this page, rounded down.
Southbound, the honest thing to say is that the traffic imbalance which helps a northbound passenger works against you. A great deal of what flies into the Algarve comes from the United Kingdom, so aircraft are regularly stranded in southern Portugal wanting to come home, and it is the homeward leg that gets discounted. Going out, you are more often the reason the aeroplane makes the trip at all.
Which points at where the saving actually is on this direction: the return. Quote both legs together and the aircraft repositions once instead of twice, and on a holiday where the dates are already fixed by the villa or the school term there is rarely a reason not to. If only one leg is flexible, make it the way home — that is the leg on which someone else's empty aeroplane might be going your way.

The Algarve runs a beach calendar and a golf calendar and they barely overlap. Departures out of London feel both, but with a shape of their own: outbound traffic concentrates at the front of a holiday week, so the hard dates here are the Fridays and Saturdays that begin a let rather than the Sundays that end one.
| Period | What happens | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| June to September | The summer peak, and family traffic dominates it. Outbound demand clusters on the days that open a rental week and on the first days of the school holidays, and the middle of the day is the busiest part of it at both ends. | Two to four weeks for a weekend departure in high summer, one to two midweek. Book the outbound the day the villa is booked, not the week before you travel, and ask for an early departure if you want the quiet end of the day at Faro. |
| March to May and September to November | The golf shoulder and the most pleasant time to be there. The heat has gone, the courses are at their best and the traffic is steady rather than spiky. | One to two weeks is usually enough. This is also the stretch in which a larger cabin is most likely to be available for close to the price of a smaller one — useful when the hold is the constraint. |
| December to February | The quiet months, broken only by the Christmas and New Year fortnight, which is busy in both directions and behaves like high summer. | Short notice generally works outside the festive fortnight. For late December, book as early as you would for August. |
Seasonality classification: routes_shortlist.csv, Diamond Executive Aero Services route research, 23 August 2026. The general European July-August trough described by EUROCONTROL in "Getting to the Point: Business Aviation in Europe", Trends in Air Traffic vol. 1, applies to business traffic and runs opposite to leisure demand such as this. Google search-suggestion evidence: "private jet faro to london" and "private jet luton to faro", measured 23 August 2026. The description of the Algarve golf calendar is general knowledge of the destination rather than a figure we have measured.
One airport, no field to choose and no clock to change. What is left is the paperwork and the car.
Faro serves everything from Sagres to the Spanish border, and because the Algarve is long but narrow, none of it is a serious drive. Tell us the resort or the address and the transfer is arranged with the flight rather than after it.
Send the address ›The United Kingdom is outside the European Union and the Schengen area; Portugal is inside both. So this is a third-country departure and a third-country arrival, handled beside the aircraft at a business-aviation terminal rather than in a hall. Send the full passenger list with passport details well before the day.
Faro to London ›Plenty of Portuguese trips take in more than the coast. Both cities are published routes from London on this site, which makes a two-city week one booking rather than three.
London to Lisbon ›Tell us your dates and how many of you there are. Your dedicated flight advisor will come back with aircraft options and a firm price.
