Malaga to Ibiza by private jet takes about 1 h 08 over 571 km, out of Malaga Costa del Sol and into Ibiza, comfortably on a light jet. Indicative price from €3 200 for the whole aircraft, one way. Coast to island in a little over an hour - in practice the Marbella and Puerto Banus run to the Balearics, since most of the people who fly it are not starting in Malaga at all. Domestic, so no border either way. Whole aircraft, single seats and empty legs.
REQUEST A QUOTETwo summer coastlines connected by a sector that is almost entirely leisure and almost entirely seasonal. Malaga logged 13,835 business-aviation movements in 2023 and Ibiza 14,383, which puts them within a few percent of each other, and both compress an enormous share of that traffic into four months. What the movement counts do not show is where the passengers actually come from: the searches that lead here are as often for Marbella as for Malaga, and the drive from Puerto Banus or Sotogrande to the airport is a real part of the journey that deserves planning rather than an assumption.
One departure that almost everybody uses, two Andalusian alternatives that occasionally earn their place, and an arrival that is not a choice. The row worth your attention is the first one, because on this route the road to the aircraft is often longer than people expect.
| Airport | Codes | Great-circle to Ibiza | Suits you if |
|---|---|---|---|
| Malaga Costa del Sol | AGP / LEMG | 571 km | The default, about eight kilometres from Malaga itself and roughly fifty minutes by road from Marbella and Puerto Banus - longer on a summer Friday. Business aviation is handled in its own terminal. Most of the traffic on this sector is coming from along the coast rather than from the city, so tell us where you are actually starting and we will build the day around the drive. |
| Gibraltar | GIB / LXGB | similar | At the far western end of the coast and closer to Sotogrande than Malaga is. It is a separate territory with its own border formalities, which is exactly why it is not the default on a route that is otherwise entirely domestic. Occasionally the right answer for a party already at that end of the coast. |
| Jerez | XRY / LEJR | slightly further | Inland from Cadiz, and a sensible departure only for parties already in western Andalusia. We propose it when the drive genuinely favours it rather than as an alternative to Malaga. |
| Ibiza | IBZ / LEIB | arrival | Where the crossing ends, and the row that shapes your summer. A single runway takes both the scheduled airlines and the private traffic; the handling is separate but the tarmac is not. From the second half of July the apron fills, aircraft are turned round rather than parked, and an arrival hour becomes something applied for well in advance rather than picked on the day. |

Just over an hour in the air asks nothing of any of these types, so the choice is about the party, the luggage and which aeroplanes can be given a stand at Ibiza on your date. A coast-to-island run in August is a luggage question far more often than a range question.
Six to eight seats and 2.27 cubic metres of hold. Range is a non-question over 571 km; what recommends it here is simply that the Costa del Sol usually has one available, and on this coast in July availability beats specification every time.
See the Embraer Phenom 300 ›A smaller cabin seating up to six or seven, and a good answer for a couple or a small family moving between houses rather than a group going out for a fortnight. It also asks less of a crowded apron at the far end.
See the Cessna Citation CJ2 ›The same generation of light cabin, and the aircraft in our own published Larnaca to Ibiza empty-leg example. Name it if your dates have any give in them - this is the class of machine that repositions across the western Mediterranean all season.
See the Cessna Citation Bravo ›All three types are on our own fleet pages. Larger cabins fly the sector too, particularly when a group is moving between properties for a fortnight rather than a weekend.

No published price for the Malaga to Ibiza city pair has reached us from a source we would be willing to reprint, so the figure above is our own floor rather than a quotation, and the table gives hourly references for the cabin class instead.
On a seventy-minute sector the flying is a minority of the cost. Crew, handling at both airports, landing and parking fees and minimum charges account for most of it, and the largest single variable is what the aeroplane does after it lands. In July and August at Ibiza it leaves, because there is no stand for it to wait on, so the booking is two sectors plus a repositioning flight rather than one crossing. The second variable is particular to this coast: a great deal of this traffic starts in Marbella, Puerto Banus or Sotogrande rather than in Malaga, and a departure timed without regard for a summer Friday on the coast road is a departure that gets missed. Tell us where you are actually starting from, not just which airport you expect to use.

Two of the most seasonal airports in Spain, joined by a sector that barely exists for half the year. The difference between them is that the Costa del Sol has a real spring and autumn and Ibiza does not.
| Period | What happens | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| March to May | The Costa del Sol's own season starts long before the island's. Golf and property traffic fill Malaga while Ibiza is still closed, so the sector itself stays quiet. | From May onwards a few days' notice is usually enough, and these are the best-value weeks of the year on this crossing. |
| June and September | Both coasts working at full strength without the August crush - the two months EUROCONTROL identifies as the true annual peaks of European business flying. | Ten days or so for a weekend. The island arrival should be applied for as soon as the date is settled, ahead of any conversation about aircraft types. |
| July and August | Maximum pressure on the island. Ramp parking rather than aircraft is the constraint, and the coast road at the Malaga end is at its slowest exactly when you need it not to be. | Three to four weeks for a weekend, and build the drive from Marbella into the plan rather than adding it afterwards. |
| October | The island's last month and one of the Costa del Sol's best. Aircraft are repositioning out of the Balearics for the winter, which is when short-notice opportunities appear. | Short notice works. This is the month to ask about a repositioning flight in either direction. |

The terminal is a transit point, not an arrival. What you do in the hour after landing shapes how the whole arrival is applied for, and in high summer it has to be known in advance rather than improvised.
Ramp to berth is the common pattern, with a good number continuing to Formentera over the water. Tell us the marina and the hour you are due aboard.
