Nice to Barcelona is about 1 h 02 in a light jet, 496 km along the western Mediterranean coast from the Cote d'Azur to Catalonia. Whole-aircraft charter, single seats and empty legs, arranged 24/7.
REQUEST A QUOTEThis is one of the shortest sectors we publish: 496 km, roughly an hour in the air, and less time overall than the drive to a scheduled terminal at either end. Nice recorded 37,425 business-aviation movements in 2023 and Barcelona 12,068, both in the EBAA top fifty, but the two airports could hardly be less alike in how they treat a private jet.
The two ends behave very differently. Nice is a business-aviation airport that also runs airlines; Barcelona El Prat is an airline hub that also, when there is room, takes business jets. Sabadell is the small general-aviation field north of the city and Girona is the practical alternative when El Prat is full.
| Airport | Codes | Distance | Suits you if |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nice Cote d'Azur | NCE / LFMN | 496 km | Almost everyone. Europe's second busiest business-aviation airport, with a business terminal of its own, and the fastest field on the coast to get in and out of. |
| Cannes Mandelieu | CEQ / LFMD | arrival alternative | You are in Cannes and the party is small. It is a smaller field with limits on aircraft size, so tell us the group and the luggage before we commit to it. |
| Girona Costa Brava | GRO / LEGE | arrival alternative | You are heading for the Costa Brava or the Emporda golf, or El Prat parking is gone for the weekend. It is also the shortest sector of the lot. |
| Sabadell | LELL | arrival alternative | Worth knowing about rather than planning around. It is the small general-aviation field near Barcelona, used mainly by light aircraft; for a jet we will normally be quoting El Prat. |
| Barcelona El Prat | BCN / LEBL | arrival | The arrival for the city itself, the port and the Diagonal. Big, slot-coordinated, and tight on general-aviation parking in high summer - which is why we ask for your dates early. |

At 496 km, or 268 nautical miles, this is squarely a light-jet sector - one of the few routes where the smallest cabin we offer is also the right one. In about 1 h 02 nobody needs a galley or a bedroom; what matters is that the aircraft can be turned round quickly at both ends and can take the hold luggage you are actually bringing.
The default on this hop: quick to arrange, economical over a short sector, and with enough hold for golf clubs or a weekend's cases. If you ask us for a light jet at short notice on the Riviera, this is usually what comes back.
See the Phenom 300 ›A straightforward light jet that suits a small group travelling with hand luggage and a laptop each. Often the cheapest way to move a handful of people between the two coasts on the same day.
See the Citation CJ2 ›An older, roomier light cabin. Worth asking about when the party wants more space than the sector strictly requires, or when it is what is sitting on the Riviera apron on your date.
See the Citation Bravo ›All three types are on our own fleet pages. If the group is larger than a light cabin takes, we arrange a midsize aircraft on this sector too.

Nobody publishes a reliable route price for Nice to Barcelona, and on a sector this short a published price would mislead you anyway. The flight is about an hour; the aircraft is not yours for an hour. Here is what the money is really buying.
Short sectors are dominated by everything that is not flying. Crew duty starts before you arrive and ends after you leave, most operators apply a minimum daily charge, and the aircraft has to get to Nice in the first place and go somewhere afterwards. If the jet is already on the Cote d'Azur and has work in Spain the next morning, the number is good. If it has to be flown up from somewhere else and then flown home empty, an hour in the air can cost as much as a much longer trip. This is also why the Barcelona to Nice direction sometimes prices differently from Nice to Barcelona on the same day.
For the class of aircraft there are public hourly references you can hold us to. Brokers publish EUR 4,600-7,300 per hour for light jets in Europe, others quote from EUR 2,900 per hour (19.02.2026) and brokers USD 3,750-4,200 per hour (August 2026). Those are hourly rates for the category, not a price for this sector, and on a one-hour flight they are the least useful part of the sum - landing, handling and parking at El Prat, plus the positioning legs, will outweigh the hour itself.
Both cities are busy in the same months, but for different reasons: the Riviera fills with leisure traffic while Barcelona keeps a working calendar of congresses, sport and shipping all year. June to September is the peak, with May and October the shoulders.
| Period | What happens | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| May | The Cote d'Azur event fortnight puts Nice under pressure, and Barcelona is in its comfortable pre-summer stretch. Departure slots, not arrival slots, are the constraint. | Book the Nice end early. Barcelona will usually take you on a few days' notice at this time of year. |
| June to September | The Mediterranean season. Barcelona is receiving the whole of Europe on scheduled aircraft and its general-aviation parking is squeezed accordingly; the Riviera is running at full stretch on the other side. | Two to three weeks out for a weekend. Say whether you are staying overnight, because a parked jet at El Prat is harder to arrange than a departing one. |
| August | The tightest weeks. Handling windows and overnight stands are what run out at both ends, rather than aircraft, and a delayed arrival can lose a slot rather than just time. | Six to eight weeks out for firm dates. A same-day return removes the parking problem entirely. |
| October to April | The Riviera quietens, Barcelona keeps working through its congress and trade-fair calendar, and jets reposition between the coast, Geneva and the Alps. | The best window for empty legs, and the easiest time to get a same-day return. Tell us your week and we will watch. |
Barcelona is a natural staging point for the rest of Spain and the Balearics. Most passengers who do not stop in the city are either crossing to the islands or continuing inland, and both legs are short enough to fly on the same aircraft.
Palma is a short hop from Barcelona and one of the sectors we run in both directions. If your week ends on the islands rather than in the city, we can price the whole thing as one trip.
Palma to Barcelona ›The Barcelona to Madrid sector is the busiest domestic corridor in Spain and a routine private-jet leg. Useful when the trip is business at both ends and the train timetable does not fit.
Madrid to Barcelona ›If Ibiza rather than Barcelona is where you are actually going, we fly that sector straight from the Riviera and it avoids a change on the mainland altogether.
Nice to Ibiza ›Tell us your dates and how many of you there are. Your dedicated flight advisor will come back with aircraft options and a firm price.
