Which airports we use

A capital-city departure and a frontier arrival. At the Geneva end, it helps to know where your car is going.

Aircraft for Madrid to Geneva

Any light jet can do this distance, which is why the floor uses the light-jet rate. For a ski party, though, the hold usually decides: skis and boots for six take space.

Dassault Falcon 2000

Eight to ten seats and a generous hold, a sensible choice for a group with winter luggage.

Falcon 2000 ›

Bombardier Challenger 350

Eight or nine seats; the reference type for the calculated time on this route.

Challenger 350 ›

Embraer Phenom 300

Six to eight seats. The light-jet class behind our floor, fine for a smaller party with modest bags.

Seat bands come from our partner operators' aircraft pages. Tell us about skis and other bulky items at enquiry; they change which aircraft we propose.

What it costs

From €5 800 one way for the whole aircraft, our own floor on the light-jet class: the 89-minute flight is billed at the two-hour minimum, and 2 × 2,900 EUR/h, the published "from" rate, gives 5,800.

This is the lowest honest figure we can print for the route, not a typical one. The super-midsize jets that most often fly here start from a higher class rate, and winter Saturdays into Geneva are rarely the cheapest days of the year.

If you are going skiing, consider flying on a weekday. The aircraft and the handling at Geneva are both easier outside the Saturday changeover.

Geneva as the gateway to the Alps

From Geneva the roads run to Chamonix, Megeve and Verbier, among others. For a ski trip the flight is only half of the journey, and the arrival time should leave enough daylight for the drive.

In summer the pattern changes: more business travel, and visitors to the lake and the mountains. The route itself is the same, but the aircraft are easier to find.

Questions we get about this route

How long does Madrid to Geneva take?
About 1 hour 29 minutes on a Challenger 350 by the Aviapages calculator, the same as southbound. A light jet would be slightly slower. Allow for the drive from Geneva if you are going on to a resort.
How much does a private jet from Madrid to Geneva cost?
Count on EUR 5,800 as a minimum for the whole aircraft. Eurosky's published starting price for light jets is 2,900 EUR an hour and the minimum bill is two hours; a super-midsize cabin or a ski-season Saturday costs more.
Can I bring skis?
Yes. Tell us how many sets and how much other luggage; it determines which aircraft we offer, since light jets have small holds.
Which side of Geneva airport do I arrive on?
Usually the Swiss side. If you are going to a French resort, tell us; arriving on the French sector may be possible and can save time on the road.
Any border formalities?
No passport control, as Spain and Switzerland are both Schengen members. Customs is a different matter: Switzerland is outside the EU customs union, so goods rules apply on arrival in Geneva. Bring a passport or national identity card.
