Nice to Rome by private jet takes about 1 h 01 min over 485 km, Nice Cote d'Azur to Rome Ciampino, normally on a light jet. Indicative price from €5 500 for the whole aircraft, one way. We quote against your dates within 30 minutes and the operations desk answers around the clock on +357 95 119759.
An hour south-east across the Ligurian and Tyrrhenian Sea, from the deepest pool of light jets on the Mediterranean into the field Rome's private traffic actually uses. Whole-aircraft charter, single seats and empty legs, arranged around the clock.
REQUEST A QUOTEThe two ends of this sector are not evenly matched, and that is the useful thing to know before you enquire. EBAA counted 37,425 business-aviation movements at Nice in 2023, second in Europe behind Paris Le Bourget, against 17,129 at Rome Ciampino. Aircraft, in other words, are rarely the problem on a southbound morning: what you negotiate is the hour Ciampino will accept you, because it works under a night curfew and a cap on daily movements.
The departure end barely needs a decision: Nice is where the aeroplanes are and it handles them through a business terminal of its own. The arrival end does need one, because Rome keeps a field for private aviation and a hub for airlines, and they suit different days.
| Airport | Codes | Distance | Suits you if |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nice Cote d'Azur | NCE / LFMN | 485 km | Almost everyone. Europe's second busiest business-aviation airport, with the widest choice of light jets on the coast at short notice and a business terminal kept apart from the scheduled ones. |
| Cannes Mandelieu | CEQ / LFMD | departure alternative | You are on the Croisette or at the western marinas. This is a separate airport 24 km west of Nice, not a terminal of it, and it takes business jets only up to a certain size - so tell us the party and the luggage before we commit to it. |
| Rome Ciampino | CIA / LIRA | arrival | The default. It is the field business aviation uses for Rome, on the south-eastern side of the city and close to the Castelli. Because of the night curfew and the movement cap we agree your landing time against the window that exists rather than the other way round, so give us the hour early. |
| Rome Fiumicino | FCO / LIRF | arrival alternative | Your timing falls outside what Ciampino can take, or somebody in the party is connecting onto an intercontinental departure the same day. Fiumicino is Rome's scheduled hub, west of the city towards the coast, and business aviation sits alongside the airline traffic there. |

At 485 km, or 262 nautical miles, range never enters the conversation - this is about as short as a jet sector gets in Europe, and the aeroplane is barely level before it starts down again. What decides the choice is the number of seats, what has to go in the hold, and what the aircraft is booked to do before and after you.
The type most often free on the Riviera at short notice, which is exactly what matters when a Ciampino window opens late in the day. Six to eight seats and enough hold for a working week's cases.
See the Phenom 300 ›The economical answer for two or three people crossing for a meeting and coming back. Over an hour in the air the cabin difference against anything larger is hard to notice, and the hourly cost is not.
See the Citation CJ2 ›An older, unhurried light cabin that flies this leg without complaint. Worth naming when your departure hour has some give in it and you would rather take whatever is already sitting on the coast.
See the Citation Bravo ›All three types are on our own fleet pages. For a larger delegation a Citation XLS+ or a Hawker 800XP flies the same sector without difficulty.
From €5 500 one way. Indicative starting price for this route, rounded down. The date, the aircraft actually available and airport fees move it — tell us your dates and we confirm within 30 minutes.
That is the same floor we publish on Milan to Rome, and deliberately so: it is the same 485 km into the same airport, so quoting a different starting figure here would be presentation rather than pricing. We have found no published one-way price for Nice to Rome specifically that we would be willing to reprint on our own website, and a number invented to fill a table is worse than no number at all.
What genuinely moves your figure on a sector this short is not the flying. Crew duty starts before you arrive and ends after you leave, most operators apply a minimum daily charge, and the aeroplane has to reach Nice beforehand and be somewhere useful afterwards. The Riviera holds far more based light jets than Ciampino does, which usually works in your favour southbound - the aircraft is already at your end. It also makes the return the question that matters most: because Ciampino runs a curfew and a movement cap, a jet that waits for you in Rome and a jet that leaves and comes back are two different prices, and only one of them may be legal at the hour you want. Tell us both halves of the day at the enquiry and the number changes accordingly.
For the class of aircraft there are public hourly references you can hold us to. Brokers publish EUR 4,600-7,300 per hour for light jets in Europe, others quote from EUR 2,900 per hour (19.02.2026) and others USD 3,750-4,200 per hour (August 2026). Those are hourly rates for the category across Europe, not a price for this sector, and on a one-hour flight they are the least useful part of the sum: landing, handling and the positioning legs will outweigh the hour in the air.
This pair straddles two unrelated calendars. The Cote d'Azur runs on a leisure season that peaks in high summer; Rome runs on the Italian working year, which is heaviest in spring and autumn and all but stops in the middle of August. Read southbound, the pressure normally comes from the Rome end.
| Period | What happens | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| March to June | Rome's heaviest business stretch - ministry, legal and corporate traffic all at once - while the Riviera wakes up and the Cote d'Azur event fortnight in May puts Nice itself under real pressure. For a fortnight in May the departure slot, not the arrival, is the scarce thing. | Two to three weeks ahead for a weekday, six for the days around the Grand Prix. Give us the meeting hour in Rome rather than the departure time and we will work backwards through the Ciampino window. |
| July and August | Italian business winds down through July and much of the country closes mid-August, so Rome becomes easy to arrive into. Meanwhile the light fleet has drifted onto the Mediterranean coast, which is your end of the sector. | The most comfortable weeks of the year on this leg: aircraft where you are and a quiet field where you are going. The best chance of a southbound empty leg as well. |
| September to November | The second Italian peak and usually the harder of the two - the autumn corporate season and the budget season in Rome land inside the same ten weeks - while the Riviera is emptying out and jets begin repositioning north and to the Alps. | Book early for anything in the first half of October. If the Ciampino hour you need does not exist, ask us to compare Fiumicino honestly before you move the meeting. |
| December to February | Quiet at both ends, then a slow restart in January. The Ciampino curfew bites harder in winter for the simple reason that the useful part of the day is shorter. | Good odds at short notice. If you need to be back on the coast the same evening, settle that at the enquiry - the curfew, not the aeroplane, is what stops a late return. |
Seasonality reflects the Italian business travel pattern and the Riviera leisure season rather than a published seasonal index for this pair.
Rome is frequently the middle of the week rather than the end of it. The same aircraft and the same crew can normally carry you on the following morning, and saying so at the enquiry is what keeps it cheap - it saves the jet an idle day on a Ciampino stand.
The most heavily flown business-jet pair in Europe and an hour in the air. If the trip is Rome in the morning and Milan in the afternoon, we price the whole day as one trip rather than two sectors.
Rome to Milan ›The usual next leg for a Riviera, Rome and London week. Plenty of our Italian traffic carries straight on northwards instead of coming back down to the coast.
Rome to London ›Ciampino to Le Bourget, capital to capital, and the leg that most often follows a Rome stop for our corporate passengers. Roughly the same aircraft class as this one.
Rome to Paris ›Tell us your dates and how many of you there are. Your dedicated flight advisor will come back with aircraft options and a firm price.
All published routes are listed on the route index. Also useful: the fleet, current empty legs, jet sharing.
