Malta to London is 2,135 km and about 3 h 06 non-stop, flown as a rule on a midsize cabin, for the plain reason that at three hours a galley and a lavatory have stopped being optional extras. Indicative price from €13 900 for the whole aircraft, one way, as our own calculated floor. Malta has one airport, so there is no departure decision to make; the whole of the choice on this direction sits at the London end, and it is a choice about roads rather than about flying. Written quotation inside 30 minutes; the operations desk answers at any hour on +357 95 119759.
Three hours up the length of Europe from the central Mediterranean, into whichever London field is actually nearest to you. Whole aircraft, single seats and empty legs. Send the postcode with the dates and we will name the airport rather than guess at it.
REQUEST A QUOTEAmong the island departures on this website Malta is the odd one out, because it has a working week underneath the season rather than a closed shutter. Banking, shipping, gaming and a large business in managing aircraft keep business aeroplanes coming and going all winter, and for anyone heading north that has a concrete consequence: out of season you are not the only reason an aeroplane would be in the central Mediterranean, and quotations show it. The departure itself is the simplest we publish – one airport, its own business terminal, and nowhere on the island far from the runway. Everything left to decide is three hours away at the other end.
One of the simplest airport pictures we publish, and on this direction it gets simpler still: the departure is decided for you, and the three arrivals differ by an hour on the road rather than by minutes in the air.
| Airport | Codes | Great-circle from Malta | Suits you if |
|---|---|---|---|
| Malta Luqa | MLA / LMML | departure | The one airport there is, and a convenient one by accident of geography: nowhere on Malta is far enough from the runway for the drive to matter. Business movements use their own terminal rather than the scheduled piers. Parties starting on Gozo cross by sea, or by helicopter if a service happens to be running on the dates in question – something we check rather than take for granted. |
| London Luton | LTN / EGGW | 2,135 km | The default, and the field the distance and time at the top of this page are measured to. It offers the widest pick of aeroplanes on any given day, which counts for more here than on a short hop, since the list of types genuinely comfortable over three hours is not long. It lies some fifty kilometres north of the centre, so it is the sensible end point for anything north or west of the capital. 26,661 business-aviation movements went through it in 2023. |
| Farnborough | FAB / EGLF | a little further | Handles nothing but business aviation, which is why you are off the aeroplane and away faster here than anywhere else on the list – and after three hours in the air that counts for rather more than the two or three minutes the slightly longer sector costs you. The field to name if the journey ends in Surrey, Hampshire or along the Thames Valley. |
| London Biggin Hill | BQH / EGKB | a little shorter | Sits on the south-eastern rim of the capital, which makes it geometrically the nearest of the three to Malta – but that is not why anyone picks it. It is picked because a car leaving Biggin Hill for the City, for Kent or for anywhere south of the river is not crossing London to get there. |
Codes and coordinates come from the open OurAirports dataset as retrieved on 23 August 2026; the Luton movement figure is EBAA’s 2023 count, reported by Private Jet Card Comparisons on 4 June 2024. We describe the Farnborough and Biggin Hill sector lengths in words rather than numbers because we have not measured them against that same dataset, and we would rather say so than publish a figure we cannot source.
Range is not the issue – 2,135 km is well inside a light jet. Three hours bent double is. That is a different experience from fifty minutes to Rome, and it is the clock and the galley rather than the map that make midsize our opening answer here.
Seven or eight seats, a cabin you can stand in and 2.55 cubic metres behind you for the bags. Over three hours the headroom stops reading as indulgence and starts reading as the reason people walk off able to work. Our opening proposal on this pairing.
Cessna Citation XLS+ ›Six to eight seats, a proper galley and a lavatory of its own. Its 5,463 km of range makes nonsense of a sector this length, which is precisely the point: name it when the island is one stop in a longer week rather than a there-and-back.
Hawker 800XP ›The newest cabin of the three, flat-floored and the quietest of them by some margin. Name it when the conversation on board matters, or when the flight is a late one and the party would rather sleep than talk.
Cessna Citation Latitude ›Every type here has a page of its own in our fleet. A light jet will do the sector and will cost less doing it – tell us if the number matters more to you than the headroom and we will put both in front of you rather than choose on your behalf. Ten passengers or more is a super-midsize conversation instead.
From €13 900 one way for the whole aircraft. Our own floor, not a quotation, and the arithmetic is on the page.
No published price for this city pair has reached us from a source we would be willing to reprint, so rather than borrow one we show the working: the flight time at the top of this page, 3 h 06, multiplied by the published entry-level midsize rate of €4 500 an hour dated 19 February 2026, rounded down. The identical floor stands on the London-to-Malta page, because a cabin class and a flight time do not change when the aeroplane turns round.
The single biggest lever on the real number is one almost nobody asks about: whether the aeroplane had business being near the central Mediterranean in the first place. Malta’s year-round business traffic and its aircraft-management industry mean aircraft are more often in the area than the holiday calendar alone would suggest, and northbound that cuts in your favour – a quotation that does not have to carry a long positioning flight down to fetch you is a materially different quotation.
After that it is the shape of the trip that counts. Six hours of flying inside one day is achievable, but it holds an aeroplane and a crew from dawn until dark and prices accordingly; staying the night frequently comes out lower as well as being a great deal more pleasant. Put both dates in the first message even if the second one is still a guess, and you will get the two shapes priced side by side instead of one of them assumed.
| Reference | Aircraft or cabin | Indicative figure | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Whole aircraft, one way | Our own floor for the cabin class and the time | from approx. 13,900 EUR | 3 h 06 x the published entry-level midsize rate below, rounded down. Not a quotation |
| Hourly rate, midsize | Europe, from | from 4,500 EUR per hour | Broker entry-level rate, 19.02.2026 |
| Hourly rate, midsize | Europe | 8,400 – 12,900 EUR per hour | Broker published range, undated, retrieved 23.08.2026 |
| Hourly rate, midsize | Europe, guide | 4,700 – 5,500 USD per hour | Paramount Business Jets, published hourly guide, August 2026 |
| Empty leg | varies with the day | brokers publish discounts of 50 – 75% | Broker price pages, all retrieved 23.08.2026 |
With the single exception of our own floor, every number in that table belongs to somebody else and describes a class of aeroplane rather than this sector. It is reprinted so that you have a yardstick to hold against any quotation, ours as much as anyone’s, and it commits nobody to anything. A price on this route means a written quotation from Diamond Executive Aero Services against your own dates. The desk answers on +357 95 119759 at any hour.
Two patterns run at once here. The visitor season fills the island between June and September and empties it by November; the business calendar ignores all of that and follows the working week.
| Period | What happens | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| June to September | High summer across the region. Anything suitable is already spoken for, Saturdays and Sundays churn with holiday itineraries, and the handling agents are at full stretch. | Allow three or four weeks for a July or August weekend and one or two for a midweek day. Send both dates together: in these weeks an operator plans the aeroplane’s whole week around a pair of legs, not around one of them. |
| May and October | Where the value sits. The island is fully open, the weather has settled, and the same aeroplanes that will be spoken for by midsummer are still unspoken for. | A week or two of notice generally does it. These are also the weeks in which upgrading the cabin costs least, because the bigger one is idle too. |
| November to April | The visitors have gone; the traffic has not. Finance, shipping and the island’s aviation industry keep working through the winter, and the conference calendar fills stretches of spring and autumn on top of that. | The cheapest months of the year on this pairing, and the ones where a few days’ notice is usually enough. Worth asking what is repositioning, in either direction. |
The seasonal classification is ours, from routes_shortlist.csv, Diamond Executive Aero Services route research dated 23 August 2026. EUROCONTROL sets out the wider July and August dip in European business flying in Trends in Air Traffic vol. 1, "Getting to the Point: Business Aviation in Europe" – holiday demand to this island pulls against that dip rather than with it. What we say about the island’s winter business traffic is drawn from our own operating experience and is not a published statistic.
For a fair number of parties London is a change of aeroplane rather than the end of the trip, and whatever follows is cheaper arranged with this leg than after it.
3,288 km and about 4 h 34 east on a heavy jet, into the island where our own operations desk sits, staffed around the clock.
London to Larnaca ›1,074 km and about 1 h 45 back down to the Mediterranean on the French side, published in its own right with its own airport notes.
London to Nice ›753 km and about 1 h 22 into the Alps, and the usual shape whenever the sea and the mountains are two halves of the same month.
London to Geneva ›Tell us your dates and how many of you there are. Your dedicated flight advisor will come back with aircraft options and a firm price.
All published routes are listed on the route index. Also useful: the fleet, current empty legs, jet sharing.
