Private Jet Charter Nice to Mykonos

Nice to Mykonos is 1,676 km and about 2 h 32 non-stop, the length of the Mediterranean on a midsize jet, and it is one of the great summer sectors in Europe: both ends are inside the Schengen area, so there is no border formality to plan around, and the whole difficulty is congestion at two very busy airports in the same eight weeks. Indicative price from €11 400 for the whole aircraft, one way. Send the dates and a written quotation follows within 30 minutes; the desk answers at any hour on +357 95 119759.

Two and a half hours from the Côte d’Azur to the Cyclades, the two ends of a European summer joined by a single sector. Whole aircraft, single seats and empty legs.

The route at a glance

This route exists because two parts of the Mediterranean fill up at exactly the same time and a great many people want to be in both. It is a straightforward midsize flight — two and a half hours, no fuel stop, no paperwork, since France and Greece are both inside the European Union and the Schengen area. What makes it interesting is that it joins one of the two busiest business-aviation airports in Europe to one of the smallest and most overloaded island fields in it, in the same weeks. Nice logged 37,425 movements in 2023; Mykonos has one runway and a season measured in weeks. Nearly every difficulty on this page follows from that mismatch.

The distance is the great-circle figure between airport coordinates in the OurAirports open dataset, so the track flown is longer. The time is a model estimate rather than a measured block time: it is fitted to flight times Diamond Executive Aero Services already publishes on this website, and routing, wind, slots and aircraft type all move it. Operating limits at Mykonos — parking, slots and hours — are described here in words rather than figures on purpose: they are seasonal and the handling agent holds the current position for your date.

Which airports we use

Two busy airports and one shared problem. Neither end offers much choice of field; what both offer is a choice of hour, and the hour is worth more thought than anything else here.

AirportCodesGreat-circleRole on this route
Nice Côte d’AzurNCE / LFMNdepartureThe departure and the field every figure here is measured from. With 37,425 business-aviation movements in 2023 it is one of the two busiest airports of its kind in Europe, it takes any cabin at any hour, and its handling is the deepest on the coast. In July and August that traffic shows up as pressure on slots and parking rather than difficulty getting airborne.
MykonosJMK / LGMK1,676 kmOne small airport carrying an enormous summer. Parking is finite, night operations are restricted, and aircraft that deliver a party in high season often reposition rather than wait. The arrival hour is the scarce resource. Settle it with us at the same time as the aircraft, not afterwards.
AthensATH / LGAVnot publishedThe mainland alternative and the usual repositioning field for aircraft that cannot stay on the island. It is also the practical fallback when congestion or weather closes the direct option. Nice to Athens is a route we publish in its own right at 1,542 km and about 2 h 21.
Cannes MandelieuCEQ / LFMDnot publishedThe Riviera’s dedicated business-aviation field, west of Nice, and an alternative departure for anyone staying that side. Size-limited and restricted at night, so it suits a light or midsize cabin rather than everything.

Aircraft for Nice to Mykonos

1,676 km with a full cabin is a midsize sector, and the reason to prefer a midsize cabin here is not range — a Phenom 300 reaches it easily — but two and a half hours with eight people and a summer’s luggage aboard. Hold volume is what runs out on this route, not seats and not fuel.

Cessna Citation XLS+

Seven to eight passengers in a stand-up cabin, 3,889 km of range and a 2.55 m³ hold. The commonest type on Mediterranean sectors of this length and usually the easiest to place at short notice.

See the Cessna Citation XLS+ ›

Hawker 800XP

Six to eight passengers, 5,463 km of range, a full galley and a separate lavatory. Far more range than the sector needs, which is why it is chosen when Mykonos is one stop in a longer Aegean or Adriatic week.

See the Hawker 800XP ›

Cessna Citation Latitude

Six to eight passengers, 5,000 km of range and a 3.60 m³ hold in a 1.83 m-high cabin — by a wide margin the most luggage volume of the three. The answer for a family travelling with everything a summer needs.

See the Cessna Citation Latitude ›

All three have their own pages in our fleet. A light jet flies the sector for a party of four with hand luggage. On a crowded island apron in August, a smaller aircraft is sometimes the one that can actually be accommodated. See also luggage limits.

What it costs

From €11 400 one way. Indicative starting price for this route, rounded down. The date, the aircraft actually available and airport fees move it — tell us your dates and we confirm within 30 minutes.

We have found no published whole-aircraft route price for Nice to Mykonos from a source we would reprint, so the figure above is calculated: the bottom of the published European midsize hourly rate applied to the flight time on this page, rounded down. It is a floor derived from market rates, not a quotation and not a tariff.

In July and August the hourly rate is the least interesting part of the arithmetic. What decides a real number is whether a suitable aircraft is already in the western Mediterranean, whether it can park at the island or must reposition to Athens and come back, and whether the hour you want at Mykonos exists at all. Those three move a summer quotation further than the choice between an XLS+ and a Latitude ever will.

So flexibility is unusually valuable here. Moving a departure by a day, flying in the morning rather than mid-afternoon, or booking both legs together so the aircraft repositions once instead of twice, each does more for the total than negotiating over the cabin. Empty legs are worth asking about for the same reason: the Mediterranean summer runs on aircraft that have delivered somebody and must go somewhere.

When to fly, and when to book early

Both ends of this route have the same season and it is a short one. That sounds convenient and is the opposite: the weeks when the Riviera is full are exactly the weeks the Cyclades are full, so demand at both airports peaks simultaneously and the flexibility that usually rescues a booking is not available at either end.

PeriodWhat happensWhat to do
July and AugustThe peak at both ends at once. Nice is at its busiest of the year and Mykonos far beyond what its apron was built for, arrival hours cluster into the same afternoons, and the meltemi blows most persistently in these weeks.Four to six weeks, and fix the arrival hour at Mykonos before anything else. An alternative day is worth more than any other concession you can make.
June and SeptemberThe best weeks of the year on this pairing. Both ends fully open, the weather reliable, the airports busy without being saturated. September is the best month if the dates are yours to choose. Two to three weeks. Short notice becomes realistic again from the second week of September onwards.
May and OctoberThe shoulders. The Riviera fills part of May with its own events calendar while the islands are still quiet; in October both ends empty quickly.A week is usually enough, except across the May event weeks on the coast. Check that the island services you want are open before fixing October dates.
November to AprilOut of season at both ends. Mykonos largely closes and the coast returns to a business calendar, so this becomes a route flown rarely rather than one flown cheaply.Short notice is realistic, but ask us first whether a direct flight is the sensible arrangement on your date rather than assuming it.

Questions we get about this route

How long is Nice to Mykonos by private jet?
About 2 hours 32 minutes non-stop over 1,676 km, and we publish the same figure for the flight back. That is an estimate from our published-times model rather than a measured block time, and routing, wind and slots all move it. Allow roughly fifteen minutes on the ground at each end, and rather more at Mykonos in the middle of August.
Is there any border formality?
No, in the ordinary case. France and Greece are both inside the European Union and inside the Schengen area, so this is an internal flight: no immigration control and no customs declaration. That is one of the reasons it is such a comfortable summer sector. Send us the passenger list anyway, because the handling agents at both ends require it and at a busy island field they want it early.
Can the aircraft wait for us on the island?
In high summer, often not. Parking at Mykonos is finite and demand for it in July and August is far beyond the apron, so an aircraft that delivers a party frequently repositions — usually to Athens — and returns to collect you. That is a real cost rather than an obstacle, and it is one of the things that separates an August quotation from a June one. Raise it when you ask about the aeroplane.
Can we arrive in the evening?
Night operations at Mykonos are restricted, so a late arrival needs checking rather than assuming, and in the peak weeks the convenient hours are also the contested ones. Tell us the hour you want to be on the island and we will confirm what is actually available before you plan around it. We do not print operating hours here because they are seasonal and change.
What about the meltemi?
It is the strong northerly that blows across the Aegean through high summer, and on the Cyclades it is a fact of life rather than a weather event. For a jet it usually means a bumpier approach and occasionally a shifted hour rather than a cancelled flight. It is a good reason to leave a little slack in a July itinerary instead of scheduling it to the minute.
Do we need a midsize jet?
Not for range — a light jet reaches 1,676 km comfortably. What the midsize cabins buy you is two and a half hours in a stand-up interior with a proper galley, and a great deal more hold: 2.55 m³ on an XLS+ and 3.60 m³ on a Latitude. On a summer trip it is nearly always the hold rather than the seats that decides, so tell us what is travelling as well as who.
How much does a private jet from Nice to Mykonos cost?
From about 11,400 EUR one way for the whole aircraft as our own indicative floor. No published price for this exact pairing exists from a source we would reprint, so the figure is the bottom of the published European midsize hourly rate — about 4,500 EUR an hour, against a published top of roughly 12,900 EUR — applied to the 2 h 32 flight time and rounded down. In July and August what actually moves your number is parking and slots at the island rather than the rate.
Should we book the return at the same time?
On this route, strongly yes. The return is the harder leg to arrange in high season, because everyone tries to leave the island on the same afternoons, and booking both together fixes the aircraft, the slots and the parking arrangement in one conversation instead of reopening all three a week later. It usually costs less as well: the aircraft repositions once rather than twice.
Are there empty legs, and can I buy a single seat?
The summer Mediterranean produces more empty legs than any other part of the European year, because the whole season runs on aircraft delivering people and needing to be elsewhere afterwards. They are led by dates rather than routes, so tell us which day could move. On flights we open for sharing you can buy a single seat instead of the whole aircraft. Current empty legs and jet sharing.
