Biggin Hill to Geneva by private jet takes about 1 h 19 over 720 km. Private flights use Terminal 3, the business aviation terminal two kilometres from the main one — and Geneva has a French sector that can put you into France on landing without crossing Swiss customs at all.
REQUEST A QUOTEThe shortest of the Alpine sectors we fly from the south-east edge of London, and the one where the arrival airport does the most work: Geneva has a business aviation terminal of its own and a French exit that lets you leave the airport without crossing into Switzerland at all. The city end is covered on our London to Geneva page; this one is about leaving from Biggin Hill and about what Geneva itself offers on arrival.
Geneva airport sits on the border, and it has a peculiarity almost nobody outside the region knows about: a French sector, which exists under a 1960s agreement between France and the Canton of Geneva. Passengers arriving from French destinations can leave the airport straight into France, without passing Swiss customs at all.
Why this matters to you: if your destination is Chamonix, Megeve, Morzine or anywhere else in Haute-Savoie, the French exit puts you on the correct side of the border at the moment you land. The alternative is landing Swiss-side and driving back across. On a Saturday in February that difference is not theoretical.
Whether the French sector applies to your flight depends on where the aircraft comes from, and that is a question for the flight plan rather than for a web page. We check it and tell you which side you will be standing on. If you have been told it does not matter, it is the same airport
— it is the same airport and not the same country.
Private flights into Geneva use a separate building two kilometres south-west of Terminal 1. It has its own lounges, its own crew facilities and its own immigration and customs screening. You do not walk through the main hall, and you do not queue with the ski charters.
This is worth naming because the main terminal in the season is one of the busiest in Europe for its size, and the difference between the two buildings on a changeover Saturday is the difference between twenty minutes and two hours.
At 720 km with a 3,900 m runway at the far end, nothing about this sector constrains the choice. Luggage does — in winter it always does.
Light jet with a hold that takes ski bags without an argument.
Midsize, stand-up cabin, the common answer for six to eight.
Super-midsize, when the party is larger or the day starts early and ends late.
Cabin dimensions and range per type are on the aircraft pages.
We do not publish a price for this route, and on Geneva in winter a published price would be the least honest number on the page. The same 720 km costs differently on a January Saturday and a May Tuesday, because on the Saturday every suitable aircraft in northern Europe is already committed and the ones left are repositioning to get to you.
Send the dates and the number of passengers and you will have real options with real numbers, normally within 30 minutes. The operations desk is on duty 24/7.
Tell us your dates, the number of passengers and where in the mountains you are going — the answer decides which side of the border you should land on.
