London to Venice by private jet takes about 1 h 53 over 1,169 km, out of Luton, Farnborough or Biggin Hill and into Venice Marco Polo, normally on a light to midsize jet. Indicative price from €5 400 for the whole aircraft, one way. Send the dates and a written quotation follows within 30 minutes; the operations desk answers at any hour on +357 95 119759.
Just under two hours south-east, across France and the Alps and down onto the lagoon. Marco Polo is the rare airport where the transfer is a boat rather than a car, and it leaves from a dock a few minutes from the aircraft. Whole aircraft, single seats and empty legs.
REQUEST A QUOTEVenice is an unusual destination in business-aviation terms because almost nobody flies there for business, and yet it is not a summer-only route either. The calendar has hard edges rather than a season: Carnival in February, the Biennale running from spring into autumn, the film festival at the start of September, and a steady flow of weddings and short private stays around them. Luton logged 26,661 business-aviation movements in 2023 and Venice Marco Polo 6,580, so the aircraft nearly always comes from the London end - and in the festival weeks the constraint is not the aeroplane but the ground.
Three departures in London and, for practical purposes, one arrival on the lagoon. The row worth reading twice is the last one: what you are really choosing at the Venice end is not an airport but a transfer, because the difference between landing at Marco Polo and landing anywhere else in the Veneto is the difference between stepping into a boat and starting a drive.
| Airport | Codes | Great-circle to Venice | Suits you if |
|---|---|---|---|
| London Luton | LTN / EGGW | 1,169 km | The default. About fifty kilometres north of central London, with the widest choice of aircraft on the day - which matters here, because the aeroplane almost always starts in England rather than in Italy. |
| Farnborough | FAB / EGLF | a little further | Business aviation only, no scheduled traffic, and the shortest ground time of the three. Marginally the longer sector to Venice. The right departure for Surrey, Hampshire and the Thames Valley. |
| London Biggin Hill | BQH / EGKB | a little shorter | South-east of London and therefore fractionally closer to Venice, though the minutes saved in the air are not the point. It is the field that saves an hour on the road for anyone in south London, the City or Kent. |
| Venice Marco Polo | VCE / LIPZ | arrival | The arrival, and the reason this route is pleasant. The airport sits on the edge of the lagoon at Tessera; water taxis leave from a dock a short walk from the terminal and run directly to the hotel landing stages in the centre, which removes the car, the causeway and the luggage trolley from the trip entirely. Treviso, about thirty kilometres inland, is the practical fallback when Marco Polo is constrained, but it puts you back in a car. |

At 1,169 km nothing in this class is stretched, so range does not decide anything. Luggage does. A Venice trip is almost never a briefcase trip: it is a wedding, a festival, a week on a boat or a house party, and the hold is the number to check before the seat count.
Six to eight passengers, a 2.27 cubic metre hold and 3,650 km of range, which is more than double what this sector asks. The quickest type to arrange out of London at short notice, and the usual answer to a late booking in film-festival week.
See the Embraer Phenom 300 ›Seven to eight passengers, a stand-up cabin and the largest hold of the three at 2.55 cubic metres. Venice is a destination people pack for - evening clothes, festival wardrobes, the occasional piece of art going out or coming back - and the hold fills long before the seats do.
See the Cessna Citation XLS+ ›Six to eight passengers, a full galley and a separate lavatory. At 5,463 km of range it is a long way inside itself here, which is exactly why it suits a party that is going on somewhere else afterwards rather than home.
See the Hawker 800XP ›All three types are on our own fleet pages. Larger cabins fly this sector regularly in the festival weeks, when groups travel together rather than separately.

We have not found a published price for the London to Venice city pair from a source we would be willing to reprint, so the figure above is our own floor rather than a quotation. The table below gives third-party hourly references for the cabin class instead, printed so that you have something honest to measure a quotation against.
The variable that moves this route is the calendar rather than the distance. In an ordinary week in April a quotation sits close to what the hourly references suggest. In the first week of September, or around Carnival, three things change at once: everybody wants an aircraft on the same days, handling at Marco Polo is at capacity, and ramp parking has to be arranged rather than assumed. If the aeroplane cannot stand at Venice it drops you and leaves, which is a different quotation from one where it waits - and for a two-night stay out of season, waiting is usually the cheaper shape.

Venice does not have a season so much as a series of events, and the traffic follows them precisely. Knowing which week you are in tells you more about availability and price on this route than knowing the month does.
| Period | What happens | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| February - Carnival | Ten days that fill the city and, with it, every hotel landing stage and every handling slot at Marco Polo. Traffic arrives from all over Europe and leaves inside the same few days. | Four to six weeks. Book the arrival window before you settle the aircraft type, and expect the aeroplane to leave again after dropping you. |
| May to July - the Biennale season | The art and architecture exhibitions run from spring into autumn and generate a long, steady flow of private traffic rather than a spike, mixed with the wedding season. | Two weeks is usually enough. This is the most comfortable part of the Venice year to fly into and the easiest to plan around. |
| Late August to early September - the film festival | The hardest week of the year on this route. The Lido fills, the arrivals concentrate into forty-eight hours, and ramp parking at Marco Polo is the binding constraint rather than aircraft supply. | Six weeks where you can. Tell us the arrival hour you need on the Lido and we will work backwards from the boat, not from the aeroplane. |
| November to January | The quiet months. Fog on the lagoon is a genuine operational factor in this period, and acqua alta occasionally complicates the transfer rather than the flight. | Short notice is realistic and the pricing is at its softest. Build a little slack into a tight onward connection, and let us brief you on the weather rather than guessing. |

This is the part of the trip most people get wrong, and it is also the part that makes the route memorable. Marco Polo is one of very few airports in Europe where the sensible transfer is a boat.
The dock is a few minutes from the terminal and the boats run to the hotel landing stages in the centre. Tell us the hotel when you book the flight and the boat is arranged to meet the aircraft rather than found afterwards.
Arrange the transfer ›Festival traffic goes to the Lido rather than to the centre, and the water route is different. It is worth naming the destination precisely, because the two are not interchangeable.
Ask about the Lido ›Venice is often one stop of an Italian week. Both onward legs are published, and an aircraft already in Italy is usually the cheaper way to make the second hop.
Milan to Rome ›Tell us your dates and how many of you there are. Your dedicated flight advisor will come back with aircraft options and a firm price.
