London to Courchevel is about 1 h 32 in the air over 884 km, Luton towards Courchevel Altiport, flown on a light to midsize jet. From €6 600 for the whole aircraft, one way. Send the dates and a written quotation follows within 30 minutes; the operations desk answers at any hour on +357 95 119759.
Out of London and into the Trois Vallees inside an hour and a half of flying. The part worth knowing before you book is what happens at the far end: almost no business jet lands at the altiport itself, so the arrival is planned as two legs rather than one.
REQUEST A QUOTEEverything on this page turns on where the jet actually stops. Courchevel Altiport is real, the 884 km quoted here is measured to it from London Luton, and aircraft do work in and out of it - turboprops and helicopters, flown by crews certified for that single airfield. Its runway is short and climbs steeply, nothing there offers an instrument approach, an approach once committed cannot be abandoned, and the field is usable only in daylight and good visibility. So the aeroplane you leave London on lands in the valley, and the last thirty minutes are flown or driven. That is not a compromise anyone talked you into; it is how the resort is reached.
One departure city, four possible arrival fields, and the arrival field is the whole decision. Leaving London you can use Luton, Biggin Hill or Farnborough and the difference between them is a few minutes in the air. Where the aeroplane stops at the other end changes the shape of your arrival day, so read the first row before the rest.
| Airport | Codes | Great-circle from Luton | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Courchevel Altiport | CVF / LFLJ | 884 km | The field you would like to land at, and almost certainly will not. Short runway on a marked uphill gradient, no instrument approach, no going around once an approach is committed, daylight and visual conditions only, an approved aircraft type and a crew certified for this specific airfield. Turboprops and helicopters, essentially never business jets. Treat it as the last leg of the journey rather than as your arrival airport. |
| Chambery | CMF / LFLB | 830 km | The usual arrival for Courchevel, Meribel and Val Thorens, and the closest jet-capable field to the Trois Vallees. It is a mountain airport in its own right and can close on weather, so we file an alternate with it every time rather than only when the forecast looks doubtful. |
| Grenoble Alpes Isere | GNB / LFLS | 836 km | Where you end up instead on a Saturday changeover when Chambery has filled, or on any day when its weather turns. It sits out on the plain and stays open when the valley fields do not, at the price of a longer road leg at the end of the day. |
| Geneva | GVA / LSGG | 784 km | The shortest flight of the four and the longest drive afterwards. In return you get more aircraft, more handling agents and more helicopters to pick from than anywhere else on this list, plus a field that hardly ever shuts - which is why parties arriving on the busiest Saturdays of February often end up here rather than in the valley. |

At 884 km the jet leg asks nothing of the aeroplane's range, so the type is settled on the ground rather than in the air. On the way out the hold decides it: a party of six travelling with skis, boards and boot bags fills a small cabin's luggage space long before it fills the seats. Tell us the number of ski bags before you ask us for a type.
Six to eight passengers and a 2.27 cubic metre hold. Comfortable for four skiers carrying their own kit and tight for six. It is also the type most often free for a same-week departure out of London in January, which counts for more on the outbound than on the flight home.
See the Embraer Phenom 300 ›Seven to eight passengers and 2.55 cubic metres, the largest hold of the three. For a family flying out with skis it is usually the right aeroplane, and it is the one that settles the argument about what fits before anybody reaches the airport.
See the Cessna Citation XLS+ ›Six to eight passengers, a full galley and a separate lavatory - and the smallest hold of the three at 1.40 cubic metres. A cabin worth having that will lose an argument with a full set of ski bags, which is why on an outbound carrying the whole party's kit it is the last type we check.
See the Hawker 800XP ›All three types are on our own fleet pages. For the altiport sector itself we arrange an approved turboprop or a helicopter separately - ask the operations desk.

Distance is the one thing that does not drive the number here. What does, first, is the day you want to arrive. Chalet weeks change over on a Saturday, a Saturday in the Alps in February is the most expensive slot in the European charter year, and the same aeroplane on the Tuesday is a different conversation entirely. Second is which valley field you will accept: Geneva with a long road transfer, Chambery with a short one, and a helicopter shuttle up to the altiport are three different bills carrying three different weather risks. Third is what the aircraft does once it has dropped you. An aeroplane that carries a party into the Alps on a Saturday morning usually has to leave again empty, and an outbound priced against somebody else's return positioning leg is where the saving on this direction actually comes from. Tell us the week and the size of the party and we will put a price against each option.
The season runs in this direction. From roughly December to March everyone is trying to get to the Trois Vallees, and you are competing with all of them for the same Saturday morning. Outside those four months the altiport is a scenic curiosity and the valley fields are quiet.
| Period | What happens | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Late December to early January | The heaviest fortnight of the Alpine year, and nearly all of it inbound. Chalet weeks begin on a Saturday, so the resort's whole arriving traffic lands within a few hours of itself. | Book months rather than weeks ahead. Expect the Saturday to price above the days either side of it, and ask us about a Friday or Sunday arrival before the chalet dates are fixed. |
| January to March | The core season and the best snow. Arrivals midweek are a fraction of the Saturday ones, and the valley handling is correspondingly calmer. | Shifting your arrival to a Sunday or a Wednesday normally costs less and lands you closer to the resort, because Chambery is easier to get into away from the changeover. |
| February half term | British school holidays stack a second spike on top of the season, and it falls on two Saturdays. Demand for aircraft leaving London is at its sharpest of the year. | Six to eight weeks minimum. Book the helicopter or the car at the same time as the aeroplane - the ground transfer runs out before the aircraft do. |
| April to November | The altiport keeps summer hours and the Trois Vallees run a walking and cycling season, but the flow out of London all but stops. | Short notice is realistic, and this is the stretch of the year when the empty-leg board is worth watching for something going your way. |

The jet gets you as far as the valley. Something else has to finish the job, and on an arrival day it is worth settling which before you leave London.
The quickest finish and the most weather-dependent, and the only one of the three that puts you on the Courchevel runway. Our own published helicopter rates start at 750 EUR per hour on a Eurocopter AS350.
Helicopter charter ›The option that does not care about cloud base and does not weigh your ski bags. We book it against the flight number, so the car is waiting at the aircraft rather than somewhere behind it.
Ask about transfers ›If the party is gathering in Switzerland rather than in London, Geneva to Nice and Geneva to London are the two sectors we publish from there.
Geneva to London ›Tell us your dates and how many of you there are. Your dedicated flight advisor will come back with aircraft options and a firm price.
