Private Jet Charter Zurich to St Moritz

Zurich to St Moritz is 144 km, about 36 minutes in the air, Zurich to Engadin Samedan on a light jet. The same distance by road is about three hours through the passes, which is the comparison this flight exists to win. Samedan is the highest airport in Europe at 1,707 m: familiarised crew, RNAV-equipped aircraft, daylight operation. A written quotation follows inside 30 minutes; +357 95 119759 answers at any hour.

The shortest way into the Engadin that does not involve a pass. Half an hour in the air, and a set of arrival conditions we will explain before we quote rather than after.

The route at a glance

On this pairing the flight is not competing with an airline. It is competing with a three-hour drive, and that is a fair fight in January.

Which airports we use

Zurich handles everything; Samedan sets the terms.

FieldCodeRole on this routeWhat decides it
ZurichZRH / LSZHDepartureFull business aviation handling, no capacity problem, and the field most Engadin trips start from
Engadin SamedanSMV / LSZSArrivalHighest airport in Europe at 1,707 m. Crew familiarisation briefing required, RNAV equipment required for the instrument approach, daylight operation

Milan LinateLIN / LIMLSouthern alternativeThe other common way into the valley, 35 minutes from the Italian side

Elevation, the crew familiarisation requirement and the navigation equipment rule at Samedan are published aerodrome facts, not our opinion. Road times are typical running times and vary with weather.

Aircraft for Zurich to St Moritz

Short sector, high arrival. The aircraft is chosen for the climb and the approach rather than for the cabin.

Phenom 300

The common answer into Samedan: light jet performance with the climb to clear terrain, up to seven seats, and widely operated by crews familiar with the airport.

Smaller and often easier to place at short notice in the ski weeks. Four to six with ski bags rather than seven with luggage.

Pilatus PC-12 and turboprops

Where the day is warm, the party is full or the weather is marginal, a turboprop is frequently the aircraft that actually goes. We will say so if that is the case.

What it costs

We do not publish a starting price for Zurich to St Moritz. A 36-minute sector is priced by everything except the flying, so a route figure would be a guess dressed as a fact. Below are hourly rates other people publish for light jets in Europe, useful for checking a quotation and no use for building one.

The item to ask about on this route is the same one that decides it: where the aircraft waits. If it can stay at Samedan the trip is one price; if it cannot, it flies back down, parks, and comes up again for you, and on a half-hour sector those two extra legs are most of the bill. In the ski weeks the answer is often that it cannot. We put that in the quotation rather than the invoice.

The figures above are third-party published rates, quoted so you can sanity-check a quotation. They are not our prices and they are not a quotation. The only price we stand behind is the written one against your dates.

When to fly, and when to book early

The Engadin season is sharper than most Alpine valleys, and the apron fills before the hotels do.

Questions we get about this route

Can a jet actually land at St Moritz?
Yes, and light jets do it regularly. Samedan is not Courchevel. What it does require is a crew that has done the airport familiarisation briefing, an aircraft equipped for the RNAV approach, and a departure planned around the altitude. Those are real conditions, not formalities, and they are the reason a St Moritz request is placed with a shorter list of operators than a Nice request.
Why does the altitude matter if the flight is half an hour?
Because the aircraft has to leave again. At 1,707 m the air is thin, and on a warm day that costs take-off performance. In practice it can mean fewer passengers, less fuel or a technical stop rather than a direct return. We would rather tell you that when we quote than when you are standing on the apron.
What if the weather closes Samedan?
The honest answer is that it happens, and the mountains are the reason. The usual fallback is Zurich or Milan with a road transfer, and the transfer is long. We will tell you the fallback plan before you fly rather than improvise it on the day.
How long is the road from Zurich?
About three hours by car in normal conditions, which is the comparison the flight has to beat. In winter, with passes and traffic, it can be considerably longer.
