Private Jet Charter Zurich to Nice

Zurich to Nice by private jet takes about 0 h 57 over 435 km, Zurich to Nice Cote d'Azur, normally on a light jet. Indicative price from €4 500 for the whole aircraft, one way. We quote against your dates within 30 minutes and the operations desk answers around the clock on +357 95 119759.

Out of Switzerland and onto the Mediterranean in under an hour. The interesting half of this trip is the landing: Nice keeps its business terminal apart from the scheduled ones, so the journey ends at a car rather than in a queue, and for a good many passengers the Riviera proper begins with a helicopter across to Monaco. Whole aircraft, by the seat, or on an empty leg.

The route at a glance

Flown this way the arrival is the busy end, and the two constraints on the trip sit at opposite ends of it. Nice took 37,425 business-aviation movements in 2023 and stands second in Europe behind Paris Le Bourget alone; Zurich, on the same EBAA count, took 25,866. So finding an aeroplane is seldom the difficulty - what limits the Swiss end is the departure window, because Zurich is a scheduled hub with a night curfew, and what limits the Riviera end is neither aircraft nor curfew but slots and ground handling in the weeks when the whole of Europe wants them.

Distance is the great-circle figure between airport coordinates from the OurAirports open dataset. Your quotation carries the real schedule.

Which airports we use

One sensible departure and two possible arrivals. Zurich is the field at the Swiss end, and its curfew decides how late you may leave rather than how much it costs. At the other end the choice is made by the address you are going to, not by the aeroplane: Nice and Cannes are minutes apart in the air and a long way apart on the coast road.

AirportCodesGreat-circleSuits you if
ZurichZRH / LSZHdepartureYour departure and the realistic one for anyone starting in Zurich, Zug or by the lake. It is Switzerland's principal scheduled hub with a general-aviation terminal, so business aviation works alongside airline traffic, and the night curfew applies here with no exemption for a private aircraft. Tell us the latest departure that would still be useful and we will confirm what can be had before you fix anything else.
Basel EuroAirportBSL / LFSBdeparture alternativeNorth-west Switzerland, on the French border, and a serious business-aviation base of its own. The obvious departure if your morning is with the pharmaceutical companies in Basel rather than with the banks in Zurich.
Nice Cote d'AzurNCE / LFMN435 kmThe default arrival and the point this page's distance is measured to. Europe's second busiest business-aviation airport, with its business terminal kept separate from the scheduled ones, which is why the ground time here is short. Monaco is a short helicopter transfer from the stand, and that transfer is arranged as part of the flight rather than left to you.
Cannes MandelieuCEQ / LFMDarrival alternativeTwenty-four kilometres west of Nice and the better arrival if the Croisette is where you are actually going. It accepts business jets only up to a certain size, so tell us the group and the type and we will say which of the two fields your aircraft can use.

Aircraft for Zurich to Nice

Under an hour in the air, so the type is decided by the number of seats and the shape of the luggage and not by range or speed. Southbound the party is usually smaller and more lightly packed than the winter loads going the other way - people are going to the coast rather than to the mountains - which is why the smallest cabins get asked for more often on this direction than on the return, and why hold volume matters less here than it does northbound.

Embraer Phenom 300

Six to eight passengers and 2.27 cubic metres of hold. The light jet most often available at Zurich at short notice, which is what recommends it when the departure has to be confirmed on the day, and comfortable enough that the brevity of the flight is the only thing you notice about it.

See the Embraer Phenom 300 ›

Cessna Citation CJ2+

Six to seven passengers, and the economical answer when the trip is four people going down to the coast for the weekend. You are paying for roughly an hour of engine time and the CJ2+ keeps that figure as small as it goes on a jet.

See the Cessna Citation CJ2+ ›

Citation Bravo

Six to seven passengers with a 2.07 cubic metre hold. Quiet and unhurried, and well matched to a leisure crossing with proper luggage. It is the type in our own published Larnaca-Geneva empty-leg example, so it is a realistic thing to ask about when a repositioning flight would suit you better than a charter.

All three types are on our own fleet pages. For a larger party a Citation XLS+ or a Hawker 800XP flies the same sector without difficulty.

What it costs

From €4 500 one way. Indicative starting price for this route, rounded down. The date, the aircraft actually available and airport fees move it — tell us your dates and we confirm within 30 minutes.

Nobody publishes a route price for Zurich to Nice that we would be prepared to reprint on our own site, so the figure above is a floor and it is derived from our own published sectors of comparable length rather than from a third party's estimate: Madrid to Malaga, 432 km, from €4 500, and Paris to Zurich, 483 km, from €4 700. At 435 km this sector belongs with the first of them.

Southbound, two things beyond positioning decide where you end up above that floor. One is the departure window at Zurich - a curfew rather than a preference, so a late evening departure is a question of whether it exists at all and not of what it would cost. The other is the calendar at the far end. In the May fortnight and on summer Friday evenings the Riviera runs out of slots and handling long before it runs out of aeroplanes, and a quotation in those weeks is priced as much against securing you a place on the ground at Nice as against the flying itself. Positioning underlies both: an aircraft already at Zurich will quote keenly, and one that must be flown in empty to collect you puts that leg in your price.

Reference points for the class of aircraft, so that you can test any quotation you are given - ours included. Brokers publish 4,600 to 7,300 EUR an hour for European light jets (undated); other published rates start at 2,900 EUR an hour (19.02.2026); others again give 3,750 to 4,200 USD an hour (August 2026).

Those hourly figures are somebody else's published material, reprinted here only as a yardstick. They are not a price for this route, they are not our offer, and they bind nobody. Only a written quotation from Diamond Executive Aero Services, against your dates, is a price. Call +357 95 119759, 24/7.

When to fly, and when to book early

Flown south you are usually travelling against the season rather than with it, and that is good news for most of the winter and bad news for a fortnight in May. The Riviera's own calendar, not the Alpine one, is what you book around on this direction.

PeriodWhat happensWhat to do
December to MarchThe ski season runs the other way. Zurich feeds the eastern Swiss resorts, so the loaded legs are the ones coming into Switzerland at weekends and the ones leaving midweek are comparatively light. This is the quieter half of the pairing to be travelling on.A week or two is normally plenty midweek. Sunday evenings are the exception - that is when the Alpine week ends for everybody at once.
January, Davos weekThe World Economic Forum makes eastern Switzerland the tightest business-aviation market in Europe for a week, and the pressure falls on your departure end. Handling, ground transport and parking around Zurich all constrict at the same time, and the aeroplane is the least of it.Book as far ahead as you can and keep your departure hour flexible. This is the one week of the year when a late enquiry genuinely may not be fillable.
MayThe Riviera's two heaviest weeks: the Cannes Film Festival and the Monaco Grand Prix fall within a fortnight of each other and Nice absorbs both. On this direction you are arriving into that, which is the harder half.Six to eight weeks, and be ready to take Cannes, or a different hour, rather than the arrival you first pictured. Nice slots and Riviera handling run out well before aircraft do.
June to SeptemberThe Mediterranean season. Nice headed the European business-aviation airport table in August and September 2021 in EUROCONTROL's count, and the weight in these months is arriving on the coast - which is what you are doing. Two to three weeks for a weekend. Friday evening southbound is the pinch point of the whole summer; a Thursday or a Saturday morning buys you a better aircraft for the same money.
April, October, NovemberNeither end is at its peak. The Alpine season is over or has not begun, the coast has emptied, and the corridor between Zurich, Geneva and the Riviera fills with aircraft repositioning rather than working. The best empty-leg window of the year in either direction. Give us a spread of dates instead of one and we will watch what is going south.

Movement counts: EBAA 2023. Airport ranking: EUROCONTROL Data Snapshot #19, 19 October 2021. The Alpine pattern at the Zurich end reflects the winter season rather than a published seasonal index for this pair.

Onward from Nice

Very few passengers on this sector are actually staying in the city of Nice, and the last part of the journey is often not on the aeroplane at all.

Monaco by helicopter

The standard Riviera transfer and the reason many people fly into Nice rather than anywhere else on the coast. Our own published helicopter rates start at 750 EUR per hour on a Eurocopter AS350, and the transfer is arranged with the flight rather than after it.

On to Sardinia

Nice to Olbia is 361 km and about fifty minutes on the same light jet - the Costa Smeralda leg that follows a Riviera stay through July and August, and one worth quoting with this flight rather than after it.

Nice to Milan Linate is 257 km, the shortest sector we publish, and it puts you minutes from the centre of Milan. A natural second leg for anyone doing the coast and northern Italy in one trip.

Questions we get about this route

How long is the flight from Zurich to Nice by private jet?
About fifty-seven minutes. The great-circle distance is 435 km, or 235 nautical miles, and our model returns 0 h 57 - an estimate fitted to the flight times we publish ourselves rather than a measured block time, and the same in both directions. On a sector this short the aircraft is climbing or descending for nearly all of it, so a larger and faster type returns you almost nothing in time. Allow about fifteen minutes on the ground at each end; Nice keeps its business terminal apart from the scheduled ones, so you arrive shortly before departure rather than hours ahead.
Can we depart Zurich late in the evening?
Only up to a point, and it is the first thing to settle rather than the last. Zurich is a scheduled hub operating a night curfew from which business aviation gets no exemption, so there is an hour past which the aircraft will not go, and no budget changes that. It is the single item on this route most often re-planned. Give us the latest departure that would still be useful to you and we will tell you what is actually bookable before you commit to anything on the ground.
Can we land at Cannes instead of Nice?
Often, yes, and it is the right question if the Croisette rather than Nice is where the trip actually ends. Cannes Mandelieu is twenty-four kilometres west of Nice on the ground, so the difference is a matter of minutes in the air and considerably more in the car. It accepts business jets only up to a certain size, so tell us the number of passengers and the type you have in mind and we will confirm whether it can be landed there - and if it cannot, Nice with a car waiting is rarely worse.
How do we get to Monaco after landing?
By helicopter, which is the standard Riviera transfer and the reason a great many passengers fly into Nice rather than anywhere else on the coast. Our own published helicopter rates start at 750 EUR per hour on a Eurocopter AS350. Tell us at the time of booking that Monaco is the real destination and the aircraft and the helicopter are arranged as one movement rather than two things you have to join up yourself on the apron.
What is the arrival at Nice actually like?
Short, which is the point of it. Nice Cote d'Azur is Europe's second busiest business-aviation airport by the EBAA's 2023 count, at 37,425 movements behind Paris Le Bourget alone, and it keeps a business terminal separate from the scheduled ones - so you are not walking through an airline terminal to reach a car. What can be slow is not the aircraft but the ground in the peak weeks, and that is a booking question rather than an arrival one.
Is the Swiss border a formality on a private flight?
Largely, and it is worth knowing about rather than worrying about. Switzerland sits inside the Schengen area but outside the EU customs union, so people move easily while goods do not always. Everybody on board needs valid identification, and tell us in advance if you are carrying anything of significant declared value, commercial samples or unusual goods, because that is what decides whether a customs formality applies. We collect the passenger details when you book and pass them to the handling agents at both ends.
Are there empty legs going south?
This corridor supplies them well, and winter is the season for it. Aircraft reposition constantly between Zurich, the Alpine fields, Geneva and the coast through the ski months, and any of those sectors flown with nobody on board is sold at a large discount - brokers publish 50 to 75 percent. The condition never changes: you travel when the aircraft goes. April, October and November are the strongest window, because neither end of this pairing is working then. Current empty legs.
Can we buy a single seat on this route?
On flights we open for sharing, yes. You book the seats you need and the cost of the aircraft is divided between the passengers on board. More about jet sharing.
Can I book a last-minute private jet from Zurich to Nice?
Often yes, and this is the most common way this route is booked. A last-minute charter means the aircraft, the crew and the airport slots have to line up at short notice: when they do, we have put people in the air within a few hours of the first call. What decides it is where a suitable aircraft happens to be and whether the windows at both ends are open, not our willingness. Call the operations desk on +357 95 119759 — it answers around the clock — and we will tell you straight away whether your timing is achievable rather than promise and check later. Last-minute empty legs on this corridor are worth asking about at the same time.
