102 km and roughly 33 minutes – the briefest leg anywhere on this site – and the flying is the least of it. A business jet no more departs the altiport than it arrives there, so the morning opens either aboard a helicopter off the pad or in a car down the Tarentaise to Chambery. Our floor for the jet half is €1 500 one way, whole cabin, with the sum printed rather than concealed. Name the hour Geneva needs you and the morning is assembled backwards from it, on +357 95 119759 at any hour.
Getting out of the Trois Vallees is a different problem from getting in. Arriving, the weather can usually be waited out. Leaving, there is generally an aeroplane, a meeting or a car at the far end with no patience at all, and the resort’s final half hour is what decides whether you meet it.
REQUEST A QUOTEFifty-five nautical miles, of which almost nothing is cruise: you are off the ground, turned north and already descending towards the lake. The page is really about the opening stage rather than the flight. Courchevel Altiport is a working airfield throughout the season, but what works it are turboprops and helicopters flown by crews holding a qualification for that one field, and it needs daylight and decent visibility before it does anything at all. The honest shape of the booking is therefore a choice: a helicopter that starts the journey at the resort, or a car that carries it down to an aeroplane in the valley.
Distances and codes: OurAirports open dataset, retrieved 23 August 2026. What is said of the altiport follows the conditions already published on our own London to Courchevel and Courchevel to London pages; no operating hours appear because we have not sourced them.
Four fields enter this conversation and only one is the resort. Geneva is the arrival and is seldom in doubt – nothing with a proper business-aviation terminal sits closer to the Trois Vallees, and most of the rotor operators serving the altiport are based there, which on a departure means the machine collecting you is frequently going home anyway. The genuine question is where your morning actually begins.
| Airport | Codes | Role on this route | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Courchevel Altiport | CVF / LFLJ | the resort itself | 102 km out from Geneva. The strip is short and markedly inclined, no instrument approach serves it, an approach once begun cannot be broken off, and it wants daylight and reasonable visibility. Pilots hold a rating specific to this one aerodrome, which in practice narrows the field to turboprops and rotors. Departing, it is the light and the visibility that bite: a machine unable to reach you cannot take you away, so the first question on a winter morning concerns the cloud over the valley rather than the apron at Geneva. |
| Chambery Savoie | CMF / LFLB | usual jet departure | Closest of the jet-capable fields to the Trois Vallees, and the standing answer for Courchevel, Meribel and Val Thorens alike. Being down in the valley is what keeps the drive brief and what makes its weather unpredictable. In season, Saturday is its worst day, and departing that shows up as ground handling rather than as runway. |
| Grenoble Alpes Isere | GNB / LFLS | fallback | Out on the plain instead of in the valley, which is precisely its value: it stays open when the valley fields do not, and it has room on a Saturday. The road down is longer, so it is a call taken in the morning rather than at the last moment. We file it as a Chambery alternate as routine. |
| Geneva | GVA / LSGG | arrival | Every distance here is measured from the altiport to it. Dedicated business-aviation handling, and the best-placed field in Europe for this corner of the Alps. In deep season it is also among the continent’s busiest general-aviation airports, so if something onward leaves from Geneva, give us that connection rather than an arrival time and let the slot be derived from it. |

Nothing about 102 km tests an aeroplane, so range settles nothing. Two other things do: what the machine can operate from, and how much luggage it takes while doing so. Ski bags are bulky rather than heavy, and a week of them coming off the mountain is what people fail to anticipate – more so leaving than arriving, since a week in the Alps adds to the pile rather than reducing it.
Six to eight seats over 2.27 cubic metres of hold. Winter’s most numerous light cabin across the Alps, and around Geneva the simplest to find late – which on a February Saturday outweighs any specification.
See the Phenom 300 ›A straightforward light cabin for a small party without a mountain of equipment. Over a distance this short it does everything a larger one would, and it is normally the cheaper aeroplane to have positioned.
See the Citation CJ2 ›The practical answer when the party is small and the luggage is not. A week of skis, boots and winter layers eats volume that the same passengers would never need in July, and it is baggage space that gives out ahead of seating.
See the Citation Bravo ›All three carry their own entries in our fleet, and for a larger party the midsize Citation XLS+ works out of Chambery and Grenoble too. Where the journey begins at the altiport, none of these is what starts it: a helicopter does, and our published rotor rates begin at €750 an hour. Volumes by type are on the luggage page.
€1 500 one way for the whole aeroplane, jet leg only. A floor of ours, rounded down, neither tariff nor offer – and over a leg this short it deserves a warning label rather than a footnote.
Here is the sum, so that you can quarrel with it. No route price between these two points has reached us from a source we would reproduce, so instead we take the lowest published light-jet hourly rate we can find – from 2,900 EUR an hour – apply it to the thirty-three minutes of flying printed above, and round down. That is arithmetic rather than a market observation, and its weakness announces itself once stated: half an hour of flying is briefer than a charter’s fixed costs. Billing minimums, the ferry in, the charges at each field and the crew’s rostered day take no notice of how short the leg is. On a hop like this they are the invoice rather than an addition to it. Use the floor to audit somebody else’s quotation, not to predict your own.
| Reference | Basis | Indicative figure | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Whole aircraft, one way | A floor of ours, jet leg only | from approx. 1 500 EUR | The light-jet hourly rate below against the 33 minutes printed here, rounded down. Not an offer |
| Hourly rate, light jet | Europe, from | from 2,900 EUR per hour | Published by a broker, 19.02.2026. The sum above uses this one |
| Hourly rate, light jet | Europe | 4,600 – 7,300 EUR per hour | Published by a broker, undated, retrieved 23.08.2026 |
| Helicopter | Our own tariff | from 750 EUR per hour | Our own helicopter page. The altiport leg is priced apart |
| Empty leg | day-dependent | 50 – 75% off is what brokers advertise | Broker price pages, retrieved 23.08.2026. Saturday changeovers throw off repositioning flights all season |
Two further things move the real figure and both belong to the mountain end. First, whether a helicopter features at all, because the altiport leg is a second aircraft with its own crew, its own handling and its own invoice. Second, the day of the week: a Saturday in high season costs more than a Wednesday for an identical journey, because what is scarce is ground capacity rather than airframes.
One advantage belongs specifically to leaving. Aircraft and helicopters that carry parties up into the valley on a changeover Saturday frequently have nothing to bring back out, so the northbound half of that movement runs empty. Yours is the empty direction. If the departure day has any give in it, say so and we will tell you what is already pointed at Geneva.
Everything above bar our own floor and our own rotor rate belongs to a third party and is reproduced so that any quotation, ours included, has something to be measured against. Over a leg this short the calculated floor is the least dependable number on the page and we would rather say so than let it pass for a price. A price exists only once Diamond Executive Aero Services has written one against your dates. +357 95 119759, round the clock.
GET A FIRM PRICEThere is no gentle Alpine curve rising to a summit. There is a switch, and it gets flipped twice a year. Within the winter, one weekday dominates everything, and on a departure it dominates harder than on an arrival – because everybody else is trying to leave at the same moment you are.
| Period | What happens | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| December to March, Saturdays | Changeover day squeezes the entire Tarentaise into one narrow band of hours. The pressure falls on rotor slots and ground handling rather than on aircraft, and the outbound rush collides with the inbound one. | Four to six weeks if the date is fixed, and settle the first leg ahead of the aeroplane. Given any latitude in the day, use it: Sunday and Wednesday are a different trip carrying a different number. |
| The Christmas and New Year fortnight, and February half-term | The crest inside the crest. Ground handling down the valley is spoken for months in advance, and late December offers the least daylight of any point in the altiport’s year. | Six to eight weeks, and leave early in the day. Let a December departure drift towards mid-afternoon and it is contending with the failing light on top of everything else. |
| The rest of the winter season | Full but manageable, and midweek the days behave more or less ordinarily. | A week or two. Hand us the hour Geneva is expecting you and the morning gets worked backwards from it, first leg included. |
| June to September | Boots and bicycles instead of skis, traffic at a fraction of winter levels, and skies far more obliging to a visual departure off the altiport. | A week is plenty and short notice is easy. It is also the season in which the rotor leg is least likely to be beaten by cloud. |
| April and May, October and November | Out of season entirely, and whether the altiport is open becomes something to establish rather than assume. | Establish it before the plan depends on it. A departure from Chambery or Grenoble is unaffected the whole year through. |
Seasonality: routes_shortlist.csv, Diamond Executive Aero Services route research, 23 August 2026. Nothing is said of the altiport’s opening times in figures, because those we have not sourced.
Every honest page about Courchevel is really about one end of the journey. Going home it is the beginning rather than the end, and three shapes are available.
The one version that begins in the resort itself instead of somewhere adjacent. A handful of minutes where a transfer would have been – and the earliest casualty of a low ceiling. Our published tariff opens at €750 an hour.
Helicopter charter ›Chambery is the usual field and Grenoble the fallback that stays open when the valley does not. Cloud base is irrelevant to it and nobody weighs the ski bags twice. Six people with a week of kit have their answer here, and it is a proper answer rather than a consolation.
London to Chambery ›Where Geneva is a connection rather than a destination, the resort is also flown to and from further afield – London Luton is 884 km and about an hour and a half, with the identical first-leg question attached.
Courchevel to London ›For a good many parties Geneva is a junction rather than the end of the week. A further leg settled in the same conversation almost always costs less than the same leg bought afterwards.
Requested more than any other continuation off an Alpine week, and the one that dictates what time the helicopter has to leave the pad.
Geneva to London ›Over the Alps in well under an hour. The natural next leg when the snow was the first half of the trip and northern Italy is the second.
Geneva to Milan ›East to the Mediterranean, and the leg our own operations desk sees most: Cyprus is where we are based and where a good deal of our fleet is heading home to.
Geneva to Larnaca ›Tell us your dates and how many of you there are. Your dedicated flight advisor will come back with aircraft options and a firm price.
