Ibiza to Barcelona is 276 km and about 46 minutes in the air, comfortably a light jet, and one of the shortest crossings we publish. Indicative price from €2 200 for the whole aircraft, one way. In July and August the flight is the easy part and the departure slot out of Ibiza is the hard one – tell us the hour you want and we will tell you straight away whether it exists. +357 95 119759, any hour.
Forty-six minutes across the water, both ends in Spain, so there is no border and nothing to file beyond the ordinary. What decides your morning is not the aeroplane but the island: one runway, a compact apron, and in high summer more aircraft wanting to leave than there is room to leave from. Whole aircraft, single seats and empty legs, arranged 24/7.
REQUEST A QUOTEA domestic hop with a seasonal personality. Ibiza has a single runway shared all summer with very heavy scheduled traffic, and it recorded 14,383 business-aviation movements in 2023 on an island of 570 square kilometres. Business aviation is handled separately – the handling is; the runway slot and the ramp parking are not. Barcelona at the other end is the opposite: a large, well-organised airport with its own corporate terminal, where the arrival is the simplest part of the day.
There is one departure and no argument about it. At the Catalan end there are three further options, and two of them exist for a reason that has nothing to do with Barcelona: if your destination is the Costa Brava or Tarragona, landing in Barcelona adds an hour of road you did not need.
| Airport | Codes | Distance | Suits you if |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ibiza | IBZ / LEIB | 276 km | Where the sector starts, and the field every figure on this page is measured from. One runway, shared through the summer with very heavy scheduled traffic, about seven kilometres from Ibiza Town. Business aviation has its own handling; the runway slot and the ramp parking are shared, and between mid-June and mid-September they are the binding constraint on your departure hour. |
| Barcelona El Prat | BCN / LEBL | arrival | The default and the right answer in almost every case. About fifteen kilometres south-west of the centre, with business aviation handled at its own corporate terminal rather than through the passenger halls. |
| Sabadell | QSA / LELL | arrival alternative | A general-aviation field about twenty kilometres north of Barcelona, used by light aircraft and helicopters. It suits particular movements and particular aircraft rather than being a general substitute – ask us before assuming it. |
| Girona or Reus | GRO / LEGE, REU / LERS | elsewhere in Catalonia | Girona serves the Costa Brava roughly a hundred kilometres north-east of Barcelona; Reus serves Tarragona a similar distance south-west. Either is the sensible arrival when the coast rather than the city is where you are going. |

Two hundred and seventy-six kilometres asks nothing of any aircraft, so the choice is about the party and the luggage. What it is genuinely about on this route is size on the ground: a smaller aircraft is easier to fit onto a crowded August apron than a large one.
The obvious answer. A Phenom 300 or a Citation CJ2 takes six with normal luggage, and on a forty-six minute crossing a larger cabin buys you comfort you will not have time to notice.
See the fleet ›For eight or nine people, or when the luggage is the kind a summer on the island generates. Worth asking about parking early in August, because the apron is the constraint rather than the runway.
See the fleet ›Quiet economy on a crossing this short, and it costs you a handful of minutes. It also fits the ground more easily at the height of the season, which occasionally matters more than cruise speed.
See the fleet ›Indicative price from €2 200 for the whole aircraft, one way – the lowest floor on this website, and an honest one for a forty-six minute domestic hop on a light jet outside the peak.
In July and August that figure describes a market that no longer exists in the same form. The aircraft is not what becomes expensive: what becomes expensive is the combination of a departure slot, ramp parking and a crew that can be there at the hour you want. A Sunday evening in August, when the whole island leaves at once, is a different proposition from a Wednesday morning in May, and we would rather say so than quote you the floor and revise it.
Where the saving is: fly on a weekday, fly outside the exodus hours, or take an empty leg. Ibiza generates more empty legs than almost anywhere in Europe for a simple reason – aircraft bring parties in and have to leave, and in the middle of the week a good many leave without anybody aboard.
GET A FIRM PRICEThe season is June to September and it is sharper than a business calendar: outside those months this is an ordinary short hop that can be arranged the same morning; inside them it is one of the busiest pieces of airspace in the Mediterranean.
Book early for August, and earliest of all for Sunday evenings and Monday mornings, when the island changes over. The binding constraint is the departure slot and the ramp, not the aeroplane, and no amount of notice creates a slot that has gone – but plenty of notice gets you one before it does.
If your hour is fixed by something on the mainland – a meeting, a connection, a dinner – tell us the hour first and the date second. That is the order in which this route is actually planned.
Barcelona is a junction rather than a terminus, and the second leg is easier arranged with the first – the aircraft and crew are already yours.
The return crossing, and the half of this trip most people book at the same time. Booking both usually costs less than two separate one-way flights.
Barcelona to Ibiza ›East along the coast, and a common continuation when the trip carries on into France rather than ending in Catalonia.
Barcelona to Nice ›Back out to the Balearics on the other island, and a short hop we quote regularly alongside this one.
Barcelona to Palma ›Tell us your dates and how many of you there are. Your dedicated flight advisor will come back with aircraft options and a firm price.
