Hanscom Field in Bedford (BED), 14 miles northwest of Boston and run by Massport, is the largest general aviation airport in New England and the usual start for a private flight south. Logan (BOS) suits downtown and the Seaport, and Norwood Memorial (OWD), south of the city, can be the easier choice from the South Shore and Route 128 south: it is 1,906 km (1,184 mi) from Norwood to Palm Beach.
